Adult games in my discovery queues
I've excluded adult games from my Steam views. However, there are games that are meant to be adult titles (just needs a patch) that are showing up in my discovery queues. It wouldn't be too big of a deal, except that the slot they're taking up could have gone towards a different game. Can something be done about this tactic?

Bro, you can turn if off. There are over 150,000 threads about this all over Steam where people complain about a feature of Steam that is easily disabled. Go to the store, then your store and click preferences. It'll be there.

Turn off adult content.

Adult Content gets blocked by turning off the content.
If they need a patch, they mostly also get turned off.

He's probably talking about games where the base game isn't adults only and has a DLC that enables adult content. In these cases only the adults only the DLC will be hidden if you have adult content disabled as base game has no adult only content.

For example NEKOPARA games:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/333600/NEKOPARA_Vol_1/

18+ Adult only content DLC:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/947650/NEKOPARA_Vol_1__18_Adult_Only_Content/

And no, these can't specifically filtered out. You could try excluding "Hentai" "NSFW" and "Sexual Content" in your preferences but this will exclude some non adult games as well.

Going to the main page, the Adult only DLC is not visible to me, so is working with the filter.

Same in Store, doesn't appear.

I did point that out in my post. :lunar2020playfuldog: However OP does not want to see these games at all though and there is no way to specifically filter them as they aren't adults only games (unless you get the 18+ DLC).

When you go through enough games, even those with excluded tags start popping up in your DQ. But at least rest assured that no game tagged Adult Only will get past the filter.

You can Ignore them, With the Ignore option.
Steam has options to filter out games with mature content from the Store

Yeah, that's what I've been doing. I have the filter on to exclude games that are explicitly adult, and when I come across games that should have been filtered out I wind up ignoring them. I was just hoping that there was a way to get rid of the ones that should have been filtered but the developers tried to get around it.

Technically, if the game has adult only DLC, the DLC will be blocked by the filter.
THe game itself isn't bad.

This might be the best solution. The offenders typically have a hentai tag associated, so let's see if blocking it solves the problem.

I mean, offenders is a bit of an amusing word to use here. :P

In essence, this really isn't an issue because you still can't see the adult content, because it is completely blocked by the normal filter.

The game itself without the adult content is legally sold on Steam, and there's no real reason to think it's bad.

Nobody is suggesting criminal activity or anything, but it's pretty obvious that they're putting out a product that's meant to contain adult content while hiding that adult content behind a patch. I don't know if they're intentionally circumventing the system or not, and I wouldn't even have a problem with it if those games weren't taking away discovery queue slots that could have gone towards a different game that I might want to see.

Anyway, the solution is to block a certain tag.

You are aware Steam itself told them to do it that way, right?
Why are you assuming any kind of maliciousness?
LOL wut.

Like, this is straight up stopping people from seeing the adult content because it's still blocked.

You can't find any adult content while the block is intact.
Even if you can find a game that sells adult-only DLC, that DLC is still blocked from your view with the adult only option flag set.

I get that it's kind of annoying, but you literally can't really tell the game is adult only if you can't even see the DLC unless you have adult-only option active.

And yeah, the tag might help, but keep in mind, you can only choose 10 tags in total.

guess they should be showing you elderscrolls games :S
