Steam wont refund my game even though its unplayable
I thought that i would try and see if i could get BO6 to run smoothly on my steam deck through windows so I purchased yesterday and let it install overnight. Earlier today I tried loading it up to which it was horribly slow. Sat there trying to mess with the settings a bit to see if i could actually get it to run smoothly at all and tried loading up a couple games of Zombies. My results were 3 blue screens, and 5 outright crashes. each time trying to tweak little things here or there. After exhausting all of my attempts i decided it was probably best to just refund the game so. i went and put a refund request in saying the game was unplayable and letting them know that the game caused my computer to blue screen multiple times as well as crash the game several others after trying to make several tweaks. They responded and said they couldn't issue a refund because it was over the 2hr mark. How is this even acceptable. I didnt even play the game for 2hrs let alone 10 minutes. every time i tried even doing anything aside from looking through the menu i would crash the game or blue screen my steam deck. Is there any way i can possibly get a refund? Did i not make it clear enough that the game is unplayable? I figured by saying it blue screened the deck 3 times would have been sufficient.

Any help is appreciated

The steam store page indicates that it doesn't know if it is Steam Deck Compatible

Right hand side above the M rating box.
Perhaps Deck compatibility is on its way(ask the devs)?
Meanwhile play it on your PC. Perhaps bug the devs to tune it for the Deck until they do.
Good luck.

When you ask for refund, it's AUTOMATICALLY issued if you are within refund window. You shouldn't expect a refund if you are outside of it.

That being said, you can try manual ticket:

Just keep in mind, that they have all rights to decline. You should have do your research before buying/trying to fix the game for over 2 hours.

i wasnt playing it on the SteamOS on steam deck. I have a windows 11 partition on the steam deck that i was playing it on so that indicator is useless to me. and besides that, the steam deck IS my PC. i dont have a gaming PC and a steam deck. i bought the steam deck because i dont have a PC and couldnt afford one, but also because of its mobility. I dont know if you understood the original problem i was having

I mean... you tried to play unsupported game, using unsupported OS. It's like asking for problems...

thats kinda lame and doesnt really seem right. If you purchase any other product and something is broken you are within every right to return that product and get a refund. I exhausted all my options before deeming the game unplayable before requesting a refund and im being punished for that? That doesnt sit right with me. Imagine buying a TV and from the moment you open the box you have 2hrs to figure out why it wont turn on or connect to the internet or change channels and if you cant figure it out in that time then you're just screwed and stuck with a worthless paperweight.

How is trying to play it on windows 11 an unsupported OS. its literally the only OS listed there. You can clearly see it in the bottom left of the picture

Wrong wording on my side. I mean, that Steam deck was not designed for win 11 and thus might have lower performance.

Well, it's a standard policy with only GoG having 30 days. Every other store have 2 hours of playtime/14 days of owbership or worse version of it.

Also you agreed to it while creating account and with every purchase.

I think both of you guys are misunderstanding. I did not try to play the game on SteamOS. I have a windows 11 partition on my steam deck. That is what I was playing it on. Another game that says steam deck is incompatible with is Destiny 2, but i play that flawlessly on the Windows 11 partition so thats why i was saying that indicator of it working or not working on steam deck is useless to me. The indicator is for playing on the SteamOS partition of the steam deck, not if you have another OS on the device. Lets not forget the steam deck is just a computer with joysticks attacked to the side of it

I guess so. I just find it absurd that i basically burned that money and have nothing to show for it. I cant even gift the thing to a friend who might be able to actually use it

That's why I quoted how to make manual ticket. Try it, Support might give you a refund. Just don't expect it as granted.

like zarineth said, try the manual ticket

the 2 and 2 are an auto system that simply checks if you are within those parameters

if you are you get a refund and if not it rejects it

if you do it "manually" a person will look at it and decide

be polite when describing the problem

it is a person and they are not involved in any way with the rules we all have to follow

The solution to your refund problem is as easy to find and view as your profile.

It depends on where you live. In Australia, the EU etc, you need to submit a manual ticket and cite the relevant legislation. It's generally illegal for companies to tell users they're not entitled to a refund, but its -not- illegal to let them uesrs infer it by offering an automated system that doesn't comply with the legislation or by letting your horde of users argue it on your behalf.

As stated you can make a manual ticket, it's not an issue or the game not working, it's an issue of it not working on your device.

The steam deck even if running windows 11 is going to have issues with the hardware and drivers that a windows 11 PC won't have

Not quite, it's not illegal to tell them they are not entitled to a refund when they go over the refund terms.
