All Workshops Broken (as of October 14th)
It seems like the Workshop's 'Most Popular' sorting method is broken at the moment
where it doesn't show the most popular of the week anymore and includes results from months ago, when before yesterday each workshop would show the week's current most popular addons.

Go ahead and check a game with an active Workshop; Ark Survival Evolved, Garry's Mod, Left 4 Dead 2 all have multi-year old addons filling the slots where new & trending addons should be.

This is incredibly detrimental to each game that relies on the workshop for an influx of new content and if not a bug to be fixed should be reverted asap.

Steam support seems to be entirely automated so its almost useless to even consider them.

14th was yesterday. Sure that's what you mean?

If you meant 15th, welcome to Maintenance Tuesday.

Agreed.
This is a very bad change for discovery of new mods.

I meant yesterday, this just started yesterday middle of the day in the US at least. It's happening within the Kenshi, Project Zomboid, Ark Survival Evolved, Garry's Mod & Left 4 Dead 2 workshops respectively.

YES, saw this with Kenshi this morning. The most popular mods from YEARS ago are on the main screen, not the stuff from this week. I think they sort it by subscriptions at the time now, not new subscriptions. So an OG mod that EVERYONE uses like it's part of the base game with ALWAYS be on top, and if you have 10 of them, then you never see a new mod up there.

I don't know if that is what has happened, but given Kenshi's mod page it makes sense. If s mod is over a month old it shouldn't even be on the "popular this week" section.

There is already a section for "Top subscribed items" and all the items in the "This week" section are now the same as the most subbed items, so both lists are the same.

Valve really needs to revert that little update.

Noticed this change in Rivals of Aether's Workshop too. While the top five are all new mods the sixth is a character that released back in January of 2024 this year.

Yeah... I really hope this is a bug.. If it's intentional they just removed a great tool from the workshop for discovering what's new and popular. Right now most popular in the week is just useless.

OK I had a look into it more and it looks like the system now also takes into account when the last comment on the mod was, the old stuff appearing on the front of Rivals of Aether Workshop page has comments that were put up today. So basically the system is taking comment interactivity into account now.

I noticed this with the escape simulator workshop! This is so weird! It's going to kill community builds if they don't change it back.

Scratch that we tested this theory and it's wrong.

Wow I can't believe more people aren't talking about this. Keep opening the workshop expecting it to have been fixed :/

This is such a bad change, I'm really hoping it gets reverted.
NSAplsdon't 19. okt. 2024 kl. 8.52
This change is awful. Its making it way harder to discover new and upcomming mods
Pompadour Nautice 19. okt. 2024 kl. 8.54
100% agree that this should be reverted.
Alibarda 22. okt. 2024 kl. 3.33
I hope it is a bug
LukeThe_idiot 24. okt. 2024 kl. 11.52
if this isn't a bug, then valve really doesn't know what they're doing, evidently enough
which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane to say, because they've known what they're doing for a LONG while, i'd think
