Gta 5 transfer from epic games to steam

if i buy gta 5 on my account on steam, and if i have gta 5 downloaded, can i transfer the files from the epic games gta 5, to the newly bought gta 5 on steam, and just create a new rockstar account connected through steam?, so i don't need to wait 10hrs downloading it, or is it simply impossible, or just too hard?

The save data I think is held server side attached to your Rockstar account AND the store you bought the game from.
Like I have the PlayStation and Steam version on the same Rockstar account, but I am not able to transfer the save as it is based on where you bought it.
Though the PC version play on the same servers regardless of it being the EGS or Steam version.

i mean i dont care about the save, im creating new acc anyways, i beat this game like more than 10 times on console, and a few times on pc, so im just wondering if i can transfer it

Depends on how the DRM is handled.
Sometimes you can, sometimes you cannot.

I assume it was only ever meant to be free once. Epic Games doesn't seem to want to pay for it to be free again at this point.

Not likely, it will lack the necessary steam manifest files and will likely redownload the whole thing anyway
