Unity games won't launch help
Hello guys. I have problem with unity-based games and went here to see if anyone experience the same problem and have solution to it.

So basically none of Unity-based games or application launch properly in my laptop even though I can find the exe file running background through Task Manager. I've been trying all fixes from article to discussion in most forum (including changing something about display aspect ratio to no scaling) but alas none works. I thought this problem is Steam-related so I proceed to download a non-game Unity-based named VRoid directly from the main site (not through Steam) but it is still the same background run only.

It is as if something hindering the program to launch properly and just stuck in the background. I also have the same problem with Zoom but I can force-launch Zoom app from my browser - the website give choices whether to launch zoom via browser or through app. If I choose to launch the app, Zoom window will pop up, bypass any obstacle that prevent the program to launch. But nothing can be used to force-launch Unity though so that is a bump.

I just bought a game from Steam that looks very interesting only to be thrown aback when I found that the game use Unity. Before windows update (I do windows update to play Phantasy Star Online 2 only to lost interest few weeks later) every unity games can be played just fine. It is only after the update that all sort of problem emerges. I'm afraid that I might remove my original license key for a lot of my program if I have to revert Windows 10 to earlier state plus still not solving the problem with Unity so I decided to not doing it if possible.

Thank you for your response in advance.

You need to run the game exe and any additional exe as admininistrator. A sub folder might have a winshipping64 or something of the sort, which usually needs to be ran as administrator.

Some games are picky like that.
The very first thing I tried. Ofc, zero success. I guess the entire Unity games are picky to me

Do u have similar problem (app won't launch but just runs in background) before? what did u do to fix that?

Not saying this is your problem but some overlay tools prevent unity games from running. Just for example i use an old old radeon tool called "Radeon Pro" (has other tweaks it does that helps optimize games to my liking why i even still use it) it will prevent unity games from running when i have the API monitor on (overlay system) I always disable the API monitor when i play unity games few others that it screws with to some ue4 games but not all.

for a long time, i couldn't play any Unity game either, until i found an old post of someone pointing out that the unity engine doesn't handle well gpu with even slightly faster clocks than usual

after downloading the MSI afterburner and lowering my clocks (and making it start with windows so the clocks are kept lowered) i can now play without issues for hours before a crash

hopes that helps

Problem is not solved yet. However, I found a way around this problem. Here is what I did:
1. Open the Unity game
2. Open and play non-unity game (I can play non-unity game just fine).
3. If I play long enough, unity game will finally launch. Usually around 30 minutes to 2 hours of playing non-unity games.

It seems that the problem is really related to clocking. Playing non-unity game will triggered the launch of unity game after some time.

Hey I have found this issue with Phasmaphobia and with Devour - both Unity games.

I found that running it in Compatability mode for "Visa Service Pack 2" fixed it for me.
And I am absolutely DISGUSTED by that, but it worked.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
