ive had a message involving an apparent false report against me and am now talking to "steam legal team" account "Karam" is this a legit account and issue or is someone trying to get me to log out my account so they can hack me

i had to verify as the account in question has "valve legal support" in it and since idk who the steam moderation team is its always better to check if anyone else has reported a similar situation and also i dont want to go and pull a data on an account just to find out its actually steam staff

Anyone can have anything as a name, especially if you're discussing the matter over at Discord.

Valve uses account alerts and messages. Not chat, not some other platform. They also don't start with something "pending", they'll hit right away if there's reason to. False reports are not something any service would jump at, which is why it's absurd the whole scam even works.

i grabified a link and it pulled 2 hits for phillipines as well as the legit steam crawlers so yeah safe to say ill make sure the accounts that sent the initial message and the "steam support" and discords get reported ill follow up with posts of the accounts so they can be shared around

Just report them and then block and move on. Don't post account names or links to accounts here as it would be against the forum rules and you'll get warned for it instead.

if you read the news u will see that even people who have been doing this their whole lives still fall for ♥♥♥♥ like this im not dumb but i always clarify before i go around fingerprinting peoples devices and messing with anything and like i said i dont know how steam works or who does what and thats exactly who they target but in this case i know how to follow up once i have a confirmed scammer. and for anyone else who wants to pipe up not all cyber security involves social engineering or phishing so sometimes its not obvious when something is a pretext especially when seeing it in the wild for the first time. obviously im clearly not perfect at spotting pretexts but if anything its adding to experience as im learning from real situations

For me that sounds like a scammer account.

But i did not study cyper.
