Will we see Black Friday sales for the Steam Deck?
I'm planning to get my first Steam Deck by the end of the month but I'm not sure if I should try to get the upcoming limited edition Deck or if I should just wait and see if there are any sales on regular Decks during Black Friday.

I want to get the 1TB OLED model either way, so the white limited edition fits the bill, but for a little extra money and plastic that won't age as well as the black plastic would, I'm not sure what I should do.

For people who understand Valve's sales trends better, can anyone chime in and advise on whether or not Black Friday sales on standard 1TB OLED Decks are likely this year?

OLED technology still expensive. It's doubtful to see huge discounts for black Friday or cyber Monday. OLED generally MSRP at $1000 plus. 2k IPS or Lcd models are coming down in price to affordable range (under $400). I would see maybe a year or two to really see serious discounts or affordable range for OLED technology.

There have been discounts on Decks. I don't know if there would be a Black Friday specific sale. There is an upcoming Autumn Sale by the end of the month and then the big Winter Sale end of December. If it does get discounted, it will most likely happen during those sales. But there's no guarantee.

edit: the sales have been on the LCD versions. The OLEDs have not seen a discount since their release.

Hmm do you think it's at all likely that we might see the OLEDs get a discount during those sales?

I'm not just hinging my decision regarding the limited edition upon whether or not there will be sales (as the limited edition is a bit pricier and white plastic ages far poorer than colored plastic) but yeah, that's definitely one of my concerns.

You're probably right, I probably ought to just consider whether an extra $30 is worth paying just for a different shell color and case... I guess I have a few days to decide.

Have you made a decision yet? I'm curious as I'm also trying to figure out if I should get the white or wait a few more days to get the black.

On a side note. What happens if you buy the white edition and then on the 29th there a sale and return the white and buy the black. What's steams policy on returns?

Not 100% yet, since we still have four days, but I'm leaning toward waiting. Even if there's not a sale, I'm not sure having a handheld, especially one I aim to use on the regular, is a good idea to have in white. Even if you keep your hands and device clean, it's inevitably going to age poorly compared to the black plastic.

Plus, it's an extra $30 for the white, and right now, every penny counts in my life so I try to get the best value I can. I'm just not sure that an extra $30 for a shell that will get dirty and age poorly is necessarily the right decision for me.

But that's just it: at the end of the day, the decision comes down to what's right for the individual, as frustrating as that may be haha
