Remove recommended tags?
How can we stop steam from recommending games based on tags that are irrelevant to us? There's an option to exclude games with certain tags, but that's not what I want to do. I want to exclude certain tags from influencing my recommendations. Or exclude certain games from contributing their tags to my recommendations. Or something like that.

For example, if I'm searching for games with the "stealth" tag, but I've recently played a game with the "nudity" tag, steam tries to recommend "stealth" games that also have the "nudity" tag. Guess what, the games in that intersection are all crap and no-one cares about them. So steam shouldn't be trying to prioritize them when I'm browsing games. So how can I clean up my recs?

And just...didn't we figure out long ago that type of algorithmic recommendation always works badly? Maybe steam should look at what spotify does! Spotify recommendations work pretty well!

The algorithm isn't being rewarded for showing you things you want to see, it's rewarded for maximising revenue.

Maybe do the search outside of your account?

That's my point! I want it to recommend games I want to buy, instead of basing recommendations on spurious similarities to other games I've played. Using tags that way works poorly for making recommendations!

Try the Steam Labs Interactive Recommender. It's not perfect either, but it lets you filter things a bit more to find games similar to ones you've played and enjoyed. I like it better than the standard store page recommendations, and way better than the Discovery Queue. YMMV.
