Account sign in
Just throwing it out there, having to sign into my account again while logged into steam caused me to miss the fall sale so I emptied my cart and didn't purchase anything for the first time in years.

Just throwing it out there, the sale lasted a week...

Yeah well, this would actually be an issue, if the sale only lasted for a few minutes...

It's been up for a while, though.

I mean its hard to feel pity if you wait for seconds before a week long sale ends to purchase....

It required three logins and codes for me to make a purchase. By the time I was done shunting around it had taken a full ten minutes. I spent the sale browsing the sale, I expected ten minutes would give me enough time to finalize my cart and push through my purchases. I'm at a loss as to what this protects against, are people logging into steam on public devices?

The code for steam was in the email, the code for the email was in the locker, which was also where the payment code was. None of these things were in the same place, and all of them required a login to get to enter the code they asked for in the first place, which is why I have always checked 'trust this device' for everything on Steam. This is the box you check when you don't want to have to burrow thru your verification system. Point is whatever they broke in security cost them money and probably not for the first time.

Sounds like an issue on your PC with your cookies expiring. I haven't had to re-login to steam in years. Again though, its typically not a smart idea to wait till the last few minutes of a sale.

It's something that's affecting some users, but the bottom line is that it's enacted so that Steam better safeguards your account. For instance, when checking your account data or gifting games a request for new log in approval for users to greenlight such actions is now more often (but not always) requested.

Sorry you missed out on purchasing items that were in your cart during the this last sale, but as consolation the bigger winter sale is only two weeks away. Hopefully you'll get the same or even better deals by then. Just, y'know, don't wait until the last minute next time.

Hope that helps! All the best to you and everyone else. Cheers!

You clearly wiped your cookies which will make Steam think you are on a new device, so the security is working just fine. Even so, retrieving a code by email should be instant so if wiping your cookies caused you to jump through more hoops then that is also on you I'm afraid.

Don't wait until the last seconds next time and if you do, make sure you are logged in and ready to go. As it stands, you've fallen at every single hurdle in place which is some feat.

Just throwing it out there, it's your own fault for waiting until the very end.

There's another major seasonal sale coming in like 2-3 weeks. Try not to wait until the last hour for that one.
I didn't get the games I had in my cart because I nodded off in my chair and woke up after the sale had ended. I've done it for the last couple big sales, I think I better start buying early in the Winter sale.
op you actually did right, i didn't buy any sales either over black friday and cyber monday, mainly cause its still over priced even after the sales. largely in part that companies need to recognize that trying to hurry purchasing with sales tactics aren't going to win them the profit race.

for example i considered to look at a product i was interested in over blackfriday,
1. i am not going to the stores to deal with crowds of people,
2. i wasn't sure i really was intrested.
3. after looking at the product i thought ok i would buy this but they rised the price
4. i don't need it anyway so why bother , i just save my money for something i really want there is never any reason to feel pressured to buy.
5. if companies want to do business they will offer the products with sale prices all year round, not timed events which try to pressure customers into buying. like wise i am less enthusiastic about shopping at said for store the next time i am out and about. its a loss for the business.
