Legit question: refund because of censorship?
Hey guys,

I'd like to ask, especially to people who have tried (and failed or accomplished) or know a lot about this kind of case:

Guilty Gear -Strive- is the very well known fighting game from ArcSys. It has a mode named "Digital Figure", where you can take stages and characters from the game and pose them to take pictures.
So, recently, a new patch made certain characters completely disappear from the screen when they're seen in certain angles. Really confusing, as none of them are naked or anything.
I used to have a lot of fun with this feature. It was even used to promote the game back in the day! And one of the features that actually convinced me to get it because I always spend hours and hours with game's photo modes.
I've read this "change" was done because ArcSys tried to get a wider audience rating in Japan... but if affected every single version of the game.
It doesn't break the fighting game, but it does break this mode.

Can I ask for a refund for this? Not that I want to "take advantage" of the situation, but I completely do NOT support censorship in games, especially when they're censored AFTER I BOUGHT THEM and had them for a long time.

Additional question: on the game refund page, I see that my Season Pass 4 is not included. If I refund the game, I'll only get back the bundle I bought back in the day, which didn't include Season Pass 4. How should I proceed to have everything related to the game refunded? (If possible).

Thank you. It'd be good if Steam noted this kind of case and did something about it. It's not the first time that it happens, as far as I've seen.

P.S. Thanks for the Jester award/s, whoever gave them. I actually use Steam Points to get cool stuff.

less than 2 hours played AND less than 14 days from purchase. There is no political/censorship refund policy no of course not. you also have the option to not play the game or advance hide (delete) the game yourelf.

You can try asking. You'll be automatically denied if your playtime is over 2 hours or you've owned the game for longer than 14 days. However, you can then submit a manual request. If you write a compelling enough argument and haven't refunded anything before, you might just get your refund. If you've refunded games before, your chances of a successful refund will be lower.

If you've had it more then 2 weeks or played more then 2 hours then no, not from Steam Your free to ask the developer for a refund and they have the capability of granting you a refund past Steam's limit.

Considering he has over 80 hours played he has no chance in hell of getting a refund from Steam.

Especially because the OP is mad they removed the ability to look up the skirts of the char's in the game....

How do you do a manual refund? Is this different from the regular refund?
I'd like to try this. I don't actually refund things, but I'd like to try and see what they tell me.

create a steam support ticket on the support site, dont use the refund option as that will reject you.

Never say never. It's rare, but people HAVE gotten refunds with over a hundred hours played, and not only during those cases where Valve offered refunds to everyone. The reason shouldn't matter, and the case of that photo mode, people aren't only being affected when they want to see butts. Even innocent angles are triggering the character removal.

And quite frankly, a non-Early Access game changing into something it wasn't at the time of purchase should be a viable reason for a refund when it is no longer fit for the purpose the person bought it for or has been significantly changed from the product they purchased. Wishful thinking, I know, but the OP can still try asking. The worst that will happen is that Steam Support will say no.

he can ask, but the answer is no, otherwise anyone can beat any game and then ask for a refund as soon as an update changes something they claim to not like. good luck arguing a fighting game is significantly changed because you can't look up people's skirts.

This kind of comment is the problem with the online community today. Always trying to attack and offend people.
Do you play the game? Do you know there are NO characters wearing skirts you can "look up"?
Hundreds of Digital Figures are broken because of this pointless change and it's a feature (again: used to promote the game back in the day) affected because of an update made to make the game get a different rating in Japan, AFTER RELEASE.
You payed for a product, you should be able to keep and completely enjoy that product (as you pleas) as it was when you payed for it. Understand that.

You paid for a license, those come with terms that affect it and you agreed to all those terms. Understand that.

none of that can be used for a refund due to the refund policy being less than 2 hours played AND less than 14 days from purchase. A little over 1 of these on your 1st refund they do sometimes help with. but not years and 80 hours, never. good luck tho.

Facts are not an attack, and if you take offense to it then that is your fault.

The fact is you have 80+ hours in the game and have clearly gotten your money's worth.

The fact is the change is very minor and its a fighting game, not a picture viewer game, so trying to claim that the game is fundamentally different because of a minor change won't work well.

Again, feel free to make the refund request, then when you are rejected you can do what I said earlier when I tried to help you and ask the DEVELOPER for the refund as Steam won't give it to you.
