Are Steam games compatible with Vive Controllers?
I'm an old dude gamer new to steam. I just bought the Vive XR Elite and was told by them when I asked, if the Steam games were compatible. They said it was designed for Steam. So far not! I bought Skyrim V because Vive told me yes, and I could not enter the game because the controllers would not operate anything. After checking the internet I see countless people with the same headsets on the internet with the same complaints. I also can't find any other games on Steam that list the Vive controllers. Now I am afraid to buy anything else for fear they won't be compatible with my headset and controllers. So far I love Steam and the games I wish I could play. At least on Vive Infinity there is a filter that will list the games that are compatible with my headset. Does Steam have the same? Every time I get close, VR gets farther away.

Even on Infinity I can only find a few games that will work with the XR Elite. There has been a lot of big lies by Vive. Their support help is about as much help as a rubber crutch. All I ever get out of them is, are you sure your internet is on, is your headset connected. None of my reviews on the games that don't work have ever been posted. Total censorship on my reviews. Good luck returning your headset, they have it all worked out so you can't return them. Just another big lie by big tech!

Please note: I do not have a VR headset but according to this article you can play games on Steam with the Vive XR Elite.

That article is basic setup 101, and has nothing to do with not being able to play games on Steam with the Vive XR Elite. Its a compatibility issue that Vive knows all about yet continues to lie about. Every game that I haven't been able to play also has many others with the XR Elite complaining in the comment section about the same issues.

Here are some good tips someone gave me in another section.about our problem Its something to think about. Many thanks to the Steam viewers for helping out! We shouldn't have to rely on others to tell us this, it should be the companies (Vive) selling the headsets.telling us this

The oldest vr headsets are a little less compatible with the latest games.
The latest vr headsets are a little less compatible with the oldest games.
Other than that, it should be fine.

Rather beware of games remade for vr, and those that got a new version for vr, like skyrim.
These games can be forced to work, but often it requires extra steps, or is not fully satisfying.
It's better to choose games written for vr from the beginning.

Pay special attention to whether the game supports VR controllers.
