Why do I have to sign in /enter code every time I buy a game?
It's getting really annoying having to do this EVERY time. Is Steam trying to push me away to other sites. This continues I'll stop buying here and just enter keys.

Lots of other places I don't have to sign in and enter a code every time I buy something.

Security is good, but when you go overboard with it it gets annoying.

Next thing you know we'll have to reset our password every 30 days, it'll have to be unique and not match a previous password or come close to it, and at least 15 characters with numbers & unique characters. It was annoying enough at work, don't need it here.

I always buy via the app nowadays. No guard code required.

Odd, I've never had to enter a code once when purchasing a game.

When using a browser I have to do it every time. Not in the Steam client or via the app.

Ah, that explains it. I only use a web browser for the forums, I always make my purchases in the client or app.

In the past I always did everything in the browser. Going through a sale, putting games in tabs to decide to put them in the cart and such. Much better in the browser.

Now since Steam finally added a synchronised cart it's easier to do the browsing on the browser and then the purchase on the client/app. Terrific change that was long overdue. ;)

These so-called threats aren't nearly as intimidating or persuasive as you might think. What exactly are you hoping for here? It's like announcing you're done with a store and expecting the masses to follow. That’s worked ... never.

No, it's an account security measure to make sure it's you making the purchase, also most if not all credit card/debit card issuers require some form of authentication for purchases.

Has to do with Steam Cookie if that is deleted then a log in is required as Steam sees it as a new device.
I have the same never been able to fix it no matter everything is ok. and as if its not enough they send a one time code to my email and that also has to be inserted. Most annoying. Once logged in at the browser just keep it open.

Until the next time I buy a game, then get to do the whole process all over again.

Not if you use the client or app to do your purchase...

It's happening in the client for me. I've had to authorise in-client logins three times during the current sale for purchases.

Oh this is nice. I never tried it again, after the first time I noticed that the cart doesn't come over to the client and just started shopping in the client itself. Good to know I can do that on the webpage now!

Only happens to me when i use a browser after adding a game to the cart and go to checkout then i have to sign in. On the Client and App i have no need to sign in at checkout.

This is happening with the desktop client for me. It's incredibly annoying since it creates multiple steps (full login, get phone, authorize with steam guard). I'm leaning toward just skipping new purchases.
