Bots of Beligerent Nations.
Hello there

Do we know what, if any steps are being taken to address this issue on the platform?

Like most "social media" we see certain nations/causes sowing dissent and it appears Steam is not excluded from this.

We've all seen the uptick in certain behaviours and many, to my inexpert eyes, seem to fall into the category of both AI and Human based "bot farms".

Do we just accept it as the new norm or is it worth "reporting" via the usual Steam channels?

Rgds

If you see someone post a "bait" thread, report it and the move on.
That's all you can do.

Basically this, sadly I wouldn't expect sweeping action against bots (or people who effectively behave like bots) anytime soon. :Pigeon:

Steam's moderators work via reaction, so something needs to be reported before they act.

Report, block and ignore.

Okay, but how does it affect playing video games? Does it actually matter at all?
Because if it doesn't impact my video game playthroughs, I have no valid reason to care about it.

uncaring isnt a great way to be imho.

Steam is more than a mere gaming library, many of us spend multiple hours a day here, from moderators to posters.

It matters, imho, to keep the forums useable and to disuade those with less than stellar intentions.

obv ymmv.

Reports are not efficient since no action is very taken, and unlikely broken Terms of Service anyways.

Yes, I suppose. I'm just wondering out loud really.

Steam forums have always been a bit "bitey" compared to Official forums, I just dont want to see it go the way of Twitter etc. and hope it can get back to the good old, bad old days.

Ive become rather fond of the old girl. Shame to see her this way.

I have use report button and it work well. Not all reports lead to action taken by the staff.

Just because a person holds a differing opinion, doesn't make them a "bot." Opinions other than your own exist."

A lot of people do not understand that everyone's opinion is valid. :chirp:

Per the steam rules, there are some good argument; however, when it become non-productive argument then the mods will lock the thread.
