Doom dark ages playtest is a new scam going around
Users send scam links that act like you are invite to playtest the game.
They send an image that looks like a notification of steam. Be careful.

Don't trust links in chats.

No playtest invite is sent through chat messages.

If you want to see a scam you should see Stalcraft, devs will literally just take items you've bought from them through steam with no compensation and they get utterly assblasted if you mention their misdeeds. They're so liberal with the ban hammer they'll even nuke people off their discussion section if you so much as link that person's comments to try and censor people. xD

It's been quite a while since anyone tried to phish me and I feel kind of left out :(

(don't take this as an invitation to commit crimes)

Happend a few times to me lately. And always from people that I had already added to my friendlist. All these accounts seem to have been stolen. I reported them everytime but never got any response from steam, idk if they respond at all when reporting potentially stolen accounts or scammers.

Well best way to prevent phishing is to keep your profile visibility limited. It does also help to not play games like CSGO, Dota, or League as these games have cosmetic items that drop. And while sensible people know these items are worth less than the bytes needed to represent them, some people labor under the delusion that they're actually worth something and will go so far as to try and steal them from others and a private inventory or just not playing those games are a good way to avoid such hassle.

I just got one myself and I did click on it but didn't put any kind of information in what tipped me off is when it asked for my birthday the months aren't capitalized.

Anyone who hasn’t grasped this by now is surely beyond help. It’s astonishing, really, how each day brings forth new souls willing to entrust their house keys to strangers, as if inviting them to plunder their very lives.

Oh, I know perfectly well. Still, it’s commendable that some are willing to step in and champion... those people who give away their data for free and then act shocked when things go south.

That's why Steam has a whole help section warning about scams. The problem is those new users don't read either them or the discussion forums until after they've been scammed.

That's setting aside the fact scams happen anywhere anytime and not just on Steam.

If your point is that spreading awarness / reminders is useless and that steam has no potential to do more, then I disagree.

So my account got compromised with sending the dark ages play test today and I have not click any phishing links for my last 2 yrs. So any solutions to fix them from logging in my account? I have over 100+ games and i dont want to abandon the account and i have Steam Guard and Auth on to protect my account and they still manage to get through...
