Actually, the money already belongs to Steam and they let you use that money once they've verified that they actually got their share of the money from the transaction.

If you put the money on Steam it becomes VALVE's basically. I mean see the currency on Steam as some paid currency in a game, because this is what it is once you put the money into Steam.

You turned it into Steam Wallet funds, that's store credit.

When you spend money for Steam Wallet Credit, it becomes Steam's money.
And Steam decides what you get to do with that Store Credit.
Also the holds when someone buys something is to ensure the money used is clean and not stolen funds.

The full message is

The purchase price for this item is unusual. Funds received from this sale will be held temporarily.

Have patience and your account will receive the in-store credit (not your money).

im all for account protection but i sold all the items for 1 cent under the price steam said the current going rate is, and then steam tells me that price is unusual?

idc about steam holding the funds, i care about why steam tells me what the value of an item is, then flags the sale when i sell it at that price. i think further explanation is needed.

i think its all a scam when it comes to the marketplace, they will do whatever they want in the end, i tried to get into steam marketplace trading, and i even set up steam guard and everything, and they wouldnt let me post items for sale saying something like "account is too new" or some dumb response, waited a few days tried the same thing, same response, contacted support and they said that there is a hold on everything, its 100% pointless to me, they got me to sign up for steam guard and then it has no purpose

"account is too new" is not what it stated.

It's Valve's money.
it's money that you pay valve so you can buy what you want using store credits, there is no advice that i can give you regarding your intellectual lacking that won't result in a ban on my account

Wow... The pot called. It still insists the kettle is black.

Here's your chatGPT response:
Is store credit my money or the store's money?

Store credit is technically the store's money, not yours, but it is assigned to you as a customer to use at that specific store.

openly relying on chatgpt to do your thinking for you is a guilty plea

buying store credits is buying a product to use, but i'm sure you wouldn't mind if valve deleted this steam account since it is theirs and they are therefore free to do whatever they want with it
