Valve is a decent company that doesn't do any of that.
Simple as.
I hate to say this but thank God Epic doesn't have forums. I have a feeling they would be far worse than these could ever be seeing the haters here.
Steam is the better of the two but they have years more experience as well.
sadly the forums on steam have turned into ♥♥♥♥, but having a place to actually ask for help about the game is nice.
I have seen plenty of people who still use the forums on steam to ask for help but they have the game on EGS. and before steam was a thing people used other forums for that stuff.
Saying forums, in general not what it turned into on steam, is a bad thing is just wrong.
We really should go back to that.
talking about majority of game devs who are not a AAA company with plenty of money to go around? no.
Many are setting up discord servers, which so far has been the quickest way I have received responses from the developers themselves. Developers seem more engaged with their community through discord compared to their amout of engagement on Steam forums or reddit.
Many devs legitimately hate the Steam forums because of how useless it is and how much it can hurt them and their business. In spite of that they still feel the need to have the forums enabled because they could get singled out if they buck the trend and be one of the few games that doesn't have a steam sub-forum. Because you can technically opt out of having the sub-forum afaik. You just will find bad will sent your way if you do.
