The Undeniable Reality
These days the experience is irrelevant, and the only experience that matters is the one that increases the experience bar.
These days, as long as you put a reward, potential reward, or even an achievement, no matter how trash the experience, people will play it again and again just to get the reward or the achievement.

Hell, people will willingly destroy theirs and others experience just to do it, and at this point even video game developers, both independent and corporate, know it because they will add a basic story and level design before they throw the player into the grind.

Back in the days when developers believed that stories in video games were like stories in erotic videos—nice to be there but not necessary. There were plots with themes and struggles with set ups that had buildups and payoffs, and the characters had there on themes and struggles with set ups with buildups and payoffs.
Now, at best, you get a basic set-up, and let's see what shenanigans the characters get into.

But can you blame them?

These days, the majority of people online will say how they want to 100% the game or platinum it instead of wanting to learn more about the world or try again it as directed class or build.

And videos on a video game about how to get the best rewards or achievements faster outweigh 100 to 1 both in number made and viewer count of the videos about story and lore.

So, I'm starting make the video game experience great again!

No, I am joking.

Let's face it, over 90% of people in the world are prone to being effected by such stimulation tricks.
Lucky for me, I am part of the 10% that are not, but the reality is that I am part of a minority.
So, there is no way they're going to cater to people like me. 😄
Not only because they will make much less money, but also because potentially they will spend more money.

Hell, all these games that failed recently would have been more successful if they added such stimulation effects.

Do you have data to backup that claim?

Data as in the survey you sent to everyone in the world who plays games.
Who the ♥♥♥♥ cares? Play games the way you like while others play games the way they like.
You play like you do, others play like they do. Which is fine.

People should stop concerning themselves so much with what other people do.

It's funny how many 'special' people there are in the world. Surprised the word sheeple didn't make an appearance.
Do you have a single fact to back that up? :spoteye::cqdepraved::spoteye:

The majority of people playing games however never bother to post anything about it.

This. Sure, there's a vocal group online who go on about collecting achieves, 100%'ing games, and so on. But that doesn't mean they're necessarily the majority.

And heck, there've been 'achievement hunters' for quite a while now - I remember stories about people collecting "gamerscore" on earlier XBox generations; and back in the day, there was a satire Flash game on Kongregate (Achievement Awarded, I think?), made in response to the Usual Crowd who always cried "add achievements!" whenever a new Flash game came out.

edit: it was Achievement Unlocked. And I got the first achievement on it in Jan 2009. So yeah, people being obnoxious about "achievement hunting" has been a thing for a couple decades.

This seems to be very difficult for people these days.
You should check out the 4 types of player described by Richard Bartle, it won't fix anything but you might find it interesting.
Blizzard, the makers of World of Warcraft is among the worst of the offenders when it comes to using tricks to get you to play longer.

They employed psychologists during development to make the game more addictive. So you play longer. They use tricks like little bell sounds after a kill, menu colors, time gating, RNG on drops.

Anybody that still plays retail wow is a loser. Especially since they just wiped about 10.000 guild banks with not one soul getting any items back.

And people still give that company money?
stop liking what I don't like!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
