he plans to ban violent video games from being sold not due to age jsut universally no violence no blood and then it will be movies and comics next to make kids be less violent this will likely be affecting everyone since msot of the industry is in america so it is safer to just remove it everywhere
Study after study concluded there is no connection between violent video games and violent kids. If there was we would be seeing mass murderers all over the damn planet every single day.

If that's how video games worked, I'd be replacing half a planet with an automated factory that produces and recycles fish after how much Factorio: Space Age I've played

actually via my observation and me experiencing video games they actually do the complete opposite of what those people think almost all of the video games have had a positive effect thus far. it has helped me alot through out my life and had me think alot more calm if it wasn't for violence in video games i be in a worse state today.

It's the same thing Valve found out when they were designing the weapon skin system for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. People don't play games with guns in them to feel like they're shooting a gun. They play those games to feel like they're playing a sport.

uh what?
The president elect for the US has stated that he plans on banning video games. I was wondering if Valve had any plans for that; like partial refunds or something.

i never heard about that happening

if it did i would have known already

Thing is the Left Constantly acuses the Right of wanting Censor Stuff. When its the Left that keeps Censoring things and the Right keeps talking about removing Censorship Filters because they have Failed, mostly its because their the ones who keep getting hit by the Filters. Both of these stances have Problems, we all already Experience the Problems of to much censorship on a Day to day Basis, but the Problem with no Censorship is we get a Soceity Desensitized to Murder, Rape and other Haneous Crimes.

The guy who wants to Ban Steam is a Democratic Virginian Senator, last name Warner. He's actually been trying to get Steam banned for the last 3 yearz, saying Steam Promotes Hate Speech. The Heads behind Project 2025 were Ousted by Trump and most of the Republucan Party. There is Reason non of them are on Trump's Team anymore, its because they Tried to take Advantage of his Inexperience when it comes to Politics the first Time around, if you're paying Attention almost no one from his 2016 Cabinet is in his 2024 Cabinet. Yes Project 2025 was made up by a Right Wing Think Tank, but the Right Quickly Rejected it and the Left Dive bombed into it and made it part of their Propaganda.
Yeah, I hear stories like these all the time. They are never successful, because they clearly don’t have all of the facts. This 69-year-old Senator Warner does not have a Steam profile, I just can’t picture it. It sounds like he just went on Google and pulled up a random Steam discussion thread that is full of toxicity. And he said that Steam is not a safe place for kids. That is for the parents to decide. The industry has no responsibility for their wellbeing. Also, doesn’t Warner have three grown-up kids and some grandkids? What if some of them are gamers here on Steam? Does anyone here know if that’s true or not? If so, then I’d say the good Senator is shooting himself in the foot. Also, how does he expect any Left leaners in the gaming community to vote for him in the midterm? This is the kind of stuff that alienates supporters. I will say this especially to the billionaires and politician types: There are some things you can’t control, no matter how much power and wealth you have. And given the fact that Steam makes up the majority of PC gaming, you’d be opening Pandora’s Box just by banning it.

There won't be a federal game ban. You should look at what tariffs actually are, who pays for them, and the potential effects that may have on game and PC hardware prices though :squirtyay:

Thankfully, I already knew that it was BS. When has the government ever been successful at banning video games or gaming platforms? Never. The industry has some of best lawyers out there.

I mean its been talked about since the 1990's and nothing has ever come out of it. Sadly that doesn't stop fear mongering.

It's not even about the lawyers, its just there is no scientific evidence to suggest it has anything to do with violence. Plenty of violent people weren't gamers. The many that are gamers also share numerous other elements in common. Gaming is a common activity, so its no surprise you will find crimes committed by people who share common interests.

Tariffs won't do anything to prices in the US besides bring them back down to where they should be, you folks need to stay in your lane on politics let the grown ups fix everything.

Video game prices are already lower then they should be. They have not kept up with inflation at all. They are near an all time low when you account for inflation.

I would love to hear how making stuff more expensive to import will bring prices down.
