STEAM becoming more an Money Generator than an Gaming platform.
♥♥♥♥ STEAM Mobile Authenticator!!!! So now you are forcing consumers to install your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ apps into their phones giving the same USA lie to /PROTECT/ its users. So apparently an decent password or email certification is air. Now companies need to fish even more detailed information. You already have full names from anyone who pays with paypal or credit card. Tottally an anti consumer move from you stupid greedy bastards. That you already make enough revenue with digital air is apparently not enough. ♥♥♥♥ STEAM

Where exactly do they make money on this? Can't see any income generated from this move.
Or do you mean the part when they could do other stuff than helping people who got hacked, duping stolen items back to them and all that? Less stolen items for sale out there maybe?

Also what is so bad about the app? Never had any issues with it.

So Valve spend a fortune on licencing a global mobile application for security purposes but they are doing this as a 'money generator'

Dat logic:steamfacepalm:

I don't really see a big issue with this. Either use it or don't. It's optional.

Yes i can see. First of all Mobile devices with operating systems can also be hacked. Second you can make contracts with phone companies. Third even when it is 2015 not everyone is fond of smarthphones including me. Low battery, weak corps, idiotic agreements when wanting to install an app. dialing much more annoying then an normal phone. And people seem to waste their lives into these things, surfing, facebook and all that oher constant bs that does infect my average workday. Thats why these things are forbidded in certain workplaces. To believe every human has an smartphone is naive.

They do spend an fortune licensing global mobile, fishing information, how and where the user would be interested and spend money on. Why do you think you have spammboxes in the first place. People are willing to buy information about your email and then start to spamm it with goods, products hoping that eventually they can find some m0r0ns to get money from.

Its not optional if an 3 days hold is applied which wasnt the case in the past you stupid sheep.
Steam is a digital games distribution platform. This means that people download and run software Steam gives them, and gladly too.

If Steam wanted "fishing information" about your email, they could take it off your computer right now and you'd be none the wiser.

The problem isn't that you're paranoid: it's that you're paranoid and you can't be bothered to think this stuff through.

Email cant be considered as an genuine source. Ofc when you really are stupid and register with your only Email wich includes your all information on every site.
But why am i even telling you this. Judging by your Steam account you dont know the first thing about the value of money. You are just another sheep that cant see the larger picture opposing those who speak up. Go graft more badges to create an illusion to cooler in the net. And let the grown ups talk a little.

So you don't like smartphones, that's fine. Got an alternative solution for you since you don't need a smartphone to use the app. (even though everyone assumes that you do..)
Buy a 40$ small android tablet, don't log in to a google account or anything, connect to wifi and go here and download the APK file (the whole app) and install it. You have to update it manually but still. Leave it at your PC and this is all you need.

To believe every human has an smartphone is naive.
If they believed that they would not use the 3 day hold and allow trading only with the app.

They explain why they did this whole thing here, you should read it: http://store.steampowered.com/news/19618/
Sounds like you will assume that it is all lies however.

Some other points, Steam already has your email address since you gave it to them, the app can't see your email also.

Steam doesn't need to use your phone to see what they want to learn about you, everything about your games and playstyle you already upload on your profile to the world to see.
They do collect hardware info but they ask you if you want to do it before they do: http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

Can't really think of anything they could collect from your phone that they can't find out from the stuff on your profile, your PC when you install their software and the stuff you already give them willingly.

Your alternative solution for me is spending money on which supports my claim.

You didn't complain about spending money, you said valve was greedy. They don't get money when you buy an android device.

Also if you didn't read my reasoning this solves all your complains about smartphones since you did the mistake of assuming that you needed a phone.

Now read the rest.

Whats wrong of them sending an email into your given adress which worked fine for years. Yes im tottally oppose of downloading an app. Even when it is from steam. There is a higher change of people losing their phones than an burglar steals your laptop. People should stop buying bs excuses on companies. The aim isnt to protect your information in the first place.
gothic angel 25/dez./2015 às 6:04
same here, a lot of making money, i.e. check the market if u get some item u must sell it for 0.01 and steam is getting 0.03...
Forcen 25/dez./2015 às 6:06
Did you read this? http://store.steampowered.com/news/19618/
Hacking accounts with malware also worked fine for years, now it doesn't. This is a good thing.

If you think this is about people stealing computers then you have no clue about the huge malware hacking problems.
Untill they changed this mobile thing all they needed to do to steal thousands accounts a day is sending a link with some promises of free stuff and bam,

The old way all the hackers had to do is get you to download something thinking it was something else (teamspeak plugin or screenshot of an item in .src format) This was it, no stealing passwords or something and the items were gone instantly and they never notice until they check the inventory. With this they can fool enough people to earn some serious money.

If you think their goal is something else you should say what you think it is and, why, how and all that.
