Why do some people on steam choose a different country to display on their steam profile instead of their real one?

maybe for example. I'm Portuguese but I live and work in Switzerland, depending on the data you write in the profile, steam updates the country of the ping that the player has, and my ping is from Switzerland, the bridge system is Swiss

Maybe they just don't want others to know which country they live in. It can be that simple.

Before my profile was themed after Supergirl, it was an Italian character so I put the Italian flag on my profile.
