We are getting flak, we are over the target.....
I’m sure the thousands (or millions) of people with private profiles (for legitimate reasons that are none of your business) would just LOVE being censored by Steam to appease some CS players….
People should simply learn to not go profile hunting to find stuff to throw at people to try and discredit them. Just play the ball, not the man.
No one is censoring them, they just would'nt be able to post in General discussion. Restrict their profiles to Help only....
Other than that no one wants your ID. Just people are sick of the Alt accounts utilising the feature to hide nefarious goings on.
I still find it amusing that you think YOU should be censored.
That IS censoring them. And at least one guy very much DID want everyone to be forced to give their ID (or digital ID, created and controlled by their local government) to Valve.
If this is a CS thing-please bother Valve about improving their anti-cheat instead of advocating for the censorship of thousands (or millions) who just want their privacy.
There are millions of games (and millions of users) on Steam. You want Valve to change a major feature of their site over ONE game that probably at least 50% (or more) of Steam users don’t even have in their library.
When trading it can be useful to catch out the accounts with all the alts, Forum disruptors etc.
No info on the Profile Page contains sensitive information, it does however benefit the scoundrel more than those who protest "privacy" claims.
You can find it amusing all you want, I have noticed the patterns on these forums and how trading works with the various scams.
An open platform removes a lot of these issues just by virtue of being seen.
That said, you're not one to be taken serious since you're posting with a private profile yourself...
Good to see I made a good point and all you have left is ad hominum attacks. My point stands.
Alts are the bane of this platform.
It's not an ad hominum attack, it's a description of the hypocrite posting. Which is indeed standard around here nowadays, that people use alts to complain about "alt abuse".
Nope. We are talking about ability to post under Private Profile status. Everything else is pure conjecture on your behalf.
You have yet to state why it shouldn't occur other than deride me. Read back what you have discussed so far.
Indeed. For all I know, OP and that alt are the same person.
You probably are.
It changes nothing about what I said.
