I see five possible outcomes:

1. The petition fails to get enough signatures and nothing happens.
   
2. The petition gets enough signatures, but the EU just gives a vague non-answer and nothing happens.
   
3. There are laws passed as a result of this that essentially just say "it's illegal to scam people" which is already what the law says so nothing happens.
   
4. The actual example given on the Stop Killing Videogames website becomes illegal. That is, even if an online buy-to-play game has clearly laid out that it will not last forever in its EULA, that's not considered enough and we get something very similar to those annoying cookie pop-ups across every multiplayer game. Overall, other than adding an annoyace, nothing happens.
   
5. Multiplayer games become actually illegal to discontinue in Europe, regardless of reason. Every centralized multiplayer game geoblocks the entire continent because the alternative is potentially unlimited cost to the game developer. It's done in an intentionally lax way so players can get around it with a VPN because then technically the player is the one breaking the rule and no government is going to go after an individual player. Basically, Europe gets the same status for online gaming that China has. And China's doing... well, pretty okay gaming-wise. So nothing happens. But in a very complicated way.

That would be the most likely outcome.......everyone who lives in the eu, knows that they have decided to stop doing winter/summer time years ago.......and still have not set that really into action.
The official stance is that the EU Countries can not "decide" which time to keep.......aka, it will never happen, and they said it only because it was a positive thing back then.

Which will also play into this initiative.

The only issue is corporations have much more money and know how to take advantage of the lack of knowledge of the people who would make these regulations.
