Should I download Epic Games Store?
Hi guys. I know we are on Steam, but I wanna ask something important. If some games are exclusively on Epic Games Store, like Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero for example who all 3 games are exclusively on Epic Games Store and not on Steam, should I download it Epic Games Store as second launcher? And I don't know if it worth, I never used Epic Games Store and I don't know how to use it. I'm a main Steam user for years. But do y'all have Epic Games Store as second launcher? And if it's yes, do y'all keep both Steam and Epic Games Store as launchers? Epic Games Store looks complicated because there are many ways to continue with accounts. Like Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, Google, Apple, and other. But I linked my PSN account on Epic Games since I tried Rocket League or Fortnite for the first time, I don't remember. And what advantages do I get if I continue with Steam or PlayStation? Did changes something? Besides, I have PS5 lol.

Look it up yourself, there's enough stuff about all of this out there. Look for it!
Wow really?? I never knew that. I played Fortnite years ago on PlayStation and I didn't know that Epic was a Chinese company. I did a Google search and yes, Tencent does own Epic Games... I know Tencent years ago, it's the same developer and company that made PUBG Mobile. But now Tencent is on Steam, that developer released Metal Slug Awakening on Steam. I'm really shocked. Well thank you so much for telling me. Now I really have a reason not to download Epic Games Store. Not to be racist, but I don't get along with a Chinese company like NetEase. I hope new games like Prince of Persia come to Steam too.
The break down AFAIK is this.
Tencent 40% been that way for years.
Disney ~10% they might had gotten more if report haven't been updated yet.
Sony 5.4%
Kirkbi 3.2%

Leaving CEO with ~41.4% he already fell below 51% threshold mark.

Now the main issue what happen is why people really panic back in 2019 was because how the client was so half-a** made back then, for some reason Epic though it be good idea to be "different" than everyone else for "importing" friends which normally uses API. So everytime you launch Epic client, it cause a stutter because it's doing scan of your Steam folder for your files that holds information of you friends list, once it does that it makes a copy in another location on your system, then encrypts that copy, then waits for you to click import friends to upload that encrypt file to their server to update your friends list on epic, and this is what cause big panic back in 2019 about why Epic client that kept repeatly doing this each time you launch the Epic client. Epic did fix this problem to stop client from doing it, and only do it when you click import friends that when it does those things, but still IMHO they could've just done API system which is simple since all you have to do was have your friends list public, or allow them to see friends list that it, no need to scan, make copies, encrypt things, or upload things from your system.

using the epic games launcher is a way to reward aggressive business practices that are ruining the experience of players
if you want to reward the fact that you cant play some games on steam because exclusivity deals, go ahead. if you dont like that, then you shouldnt

Oh, so that's why. Epic doesn't have so much things, like achievements or something?

I bet you buy from at least 20 companies that do the same

Valve is heavily manipulating the market too and got fined. But it's alright because Reddit says so, right lol

Epic is more similar to PS Store or Xbox Store. So they have achievements and the most basic functionalities but no written reviews, no forums, no community.

EGS does have achievements but the problem is the implementation is so shoddy that some games will either not point out that you've earned them until much later, or just never at all.

In general, EGS has very little features to appreciate compared to Steam so there isn't much reason to use their platform other than when they provide freebies and purchases where they foot the bill further than Steam.

With all the games you mentioned being free to play, getting them from their Hoyo launcher directly would be much more convenient.

Also a fun fact that doesn’t mean much.
Sony invested into Epic shares about $1.5 billion and owns part of it. A whole 5%. :)

That’s probably a reason why every recent Sony game is on Epic. Also Returnal requires Epic login on steam.

Oh that's why. Well I made a great choice to choose Steam since it's the unique platform to have very much features and interesting indie games. Anyway I get them from the Hoyo launcher. But if I wanna uninstall one or more games from Hoyo launcher should I do it through the folder or in settings on my PC and then go to installed apps? My OS is Windows 11 and looks there are ways to uninstall the games downloaded from browser. I don't know if it works the same thing.

They added achievements, the funny thing is they had to redo the achievements completely, which made devs question why they didn't just do it from the start instead of redoing it all.

So basically when achievements started it only shown in game no where else via Epic overlay that it, and later Epic redo whole achievements system so can be shown outside of the game on your epic profile, issue that games that didn't bother to update the achievements system basically stuck on old system where can't see it anywhere else but in the game only.

Last year Epic pushes new policy that forces all game devs to make achievements mandatory if game are sold on Steam, or any other 3rd party store where they support achievements on them.

Fined for? Thinking of refunds policy, or EU geo blocking that publishers wanted to do regional keys for?

Actually PSN has reviews, forums, and community, even Xbox. To be fair might be thinking of PS3 PSN / Xbox 360 store.

Tencent bought 40% of the company for $330M, of course that was a long time ago.

You can do it via launder, if I remember correctly, or opening windows settings to uninstall apps.

if you want a secondary launcher that has some exclusives I would go with gog because it's way more straightforward than epic and has some exclusives that are LEAGUES better than the epic ones yeah they are a lot older but I am sure would be better than games like genshin and honki (still don't know the differences between those and frankly don't really care because I hate gatcha games)

I see. Thanks. The only thing I like about Steam is I can add non-Steam games on Steam. I don't remember how to remove non-Steam games, if someone can tell how even if it should be easy, but better explain anyway.
