I'm sure the deleted reply you are laughing at was hilarious...
Look, if someone’s reviewing Monkey Island, I’d prefer they don’t write “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” the game review edition.
Writing rule number one? Know the audience your writing for.
Did I comment on the nature of the reviews?
Rule number 1 is reading the thread post before you reply
Published Author and Ghost Writer...
It’s an award and, like all the others, they can signify whatever you want. Don’t like them, than just ignore them. However some people actual like rewarding reviews they find entertaining.
The award system isn’t there for in-depth community analysis.
I asked if there were any benefits for steam steam members by having the 'funny' comment option when reading the Game Reviews?
@Bee this has nothing to do with awards. LMAO!
OK. Great. So blah.....
Thanks I do know how to behave
By asking a simple question which I have, does not mean I have chosen to oppose other options of thought.
The simplicity of the question defines my question and does not oppose any other thought.
Sadly you seem to want an argument so please carry on without me
My simple question still stands and if you want to mash it up then fine. Have a nice day
Sorry you have failed to understand my post. Perhaps you can read my OP and appreciate that it's a simple question that doesn't ask for your BS replay content whatsoever...
You are being honest and that is great Callahan420
My question is all about the benefits for users reading how many find people voting reviews funny.
I can't make it clearer LOL
Can't reply then don't. Jeez just shows what I expected here. Too many wanting an argument than able to reply with any intelligence...
Nice one guys - be proud LOL
In reality, neither those or a yes/no really matter; the important metric that most people notice, is the giant thumbs up or down or the overall score. The “rating” system was a good idea, but I don’t think it help to weed out “unfair reviews”.
Anyway, if it has no real relevance to OP, they can easily ignore it.
Edit: Now, if OP wants a debate over how Steam sorts reviews and determines which are visible on the store page in relation to the “ratings” system, that’s arguably a valid concern. Otherwise, this is a storm in a teacup.
You are welcome to answer my question (the one at the top) anytime... You seem to have ignored it in some attempt at evasion...
I wasn't suggesting or indeed asking if it would have a purpose materially or functionally but just why it was there in the first place.
Your reply does tell me that it is a waste of time though and just provokes nonsensical results for no reason at all in reality.
That being the fact why not ask the viewers of reviews if they think that the reviewer was being 'serious' or had a hot dog up his arse or not?
It's arbitrary nonsense if there is no metric to be gained. This is OLD thinking and just takes the whole review system into question upon it's validity and usefulness.
Thanks Matt for your reply :-)
Your asking the wrong question. The “community” isn’t some homogeneous whole where everyone places the same importance on one aspect of the reviews system. Some people upvote or reward things they find funny - it’s that simple.
But in the end it doesn’t matter because the ratings really don’t impact the overall score at the end.
I know sigh.. It matters not to me because I didn't address that at all here. Please re-read my OP... It'll do you good ;-)
But neither does the community completely find it confusing to answer a simple question when asked... LOL. You seem quite unique
I'm asking the wrong question? Err sorry you are now looking silly... Have a great day :-)
