None too surprising that something like this would happen at some point.
The Steamguard app is a mess.

I have a co-worker that couldn't sign into their Steam account anymore the other week, because the Steamguard app itself started asking them to sign-in and confirm their mobile code ... via the Steamguard app...

My Steam Guard is still set in my old smartphone with Android 2.2. Basically i use it only for Steam Guard and as an alarm clock. Of course it's offline, wiithout a SIM card and inside a drawer in my room.

Guess what ? Steam Guard is still working perfectly with the old app. No issues at all.

There is something on Steam that is not a mess ? Basically everything they made or remade in the last three/four years is flawed, broked or downgraded in some way.

My steam guard is also working fine on an old (iphone) cell phone! Android is the problem, worst basic software ever coded just copied from linux. I also have a great PC not a cheapie, no nvidia no intel as i do not use junk in my builds and steam works just fine no issues like everyone else has all the time.

Force quit/close app.

Clear cache only, don't clear data. Relaunch app, see what happens.

IDK about the absolute accuracy of this, but I agree with the sentiment at least.

Pretty sure if we'd actually collectively start digging we could find something that's either broken or not quite working the way it should under all conditions, in mostly any feature in today's Steam client. I'd personally rule this one as 'myth plausible'

Don't forget the removed features. The example off the top of my head: Steam's music player. I'm also keeping my eye on whether or not the main release loses the shortcut button for opening screenshot folders. But only because it gives some indication on how they are conducting testing.

They're conducting testing?
Could've fooled me... /s

IDK if it is testing, or "testing". Best metric I can think of would be to gauge the reported issues that make it live.
