About the "LGBT stuff" spam in games forums.

We've all seen it, and we all know very little of it is honest feedback, most of it is bait to farm Jester awards or to get people to rage and abuse reports.

If you don't see what I mean, take a look at The First Descendant's forum, half of the first page is that in one way or another. ( https://steamcommunity.com/app/2074920/discussions/0/ )

Valve is not doing anything because censoring discussion about LGBT is a big no no in progressive USA. Trolls know that and abuse that fact, the funny part is, if you block them, and go to other forums, they post the same thing everywhere and you start seeing "This was posted by a blocked user" everywhere.

There's two solutions to that problem, before it gets even worse :

- REMOVE AWARDS. It doesn't serve any purpose other than being a "steam point sink", and suddenly, you get rid of all the Jester farmers, aka, the vast majority of these posters.

- Apply the rules the same EVEN when people talk about that subject. There's no reason people would be allowed to spam about that and not anything else. Almost none of these threads are locked... "This discussion has devolved and is no longer constructive" ? That's what you use to censor every single interesting discussion, but you allow these trolls and the morons who answer to flood your forums with no repercussion ?


And finally, a message to Valve employees, you think you help the LGBTs by doing what you're doing, but you don't, you just make it so that everyone is sick and tired of it, and it leads to more LGBT hate. You're accomplices.

Honestly the "jester" award thing is a problem everywhere :/
Its used to make fun of people, and even if you do get some points... its still a low blow.
The awards system was probably meant to boost the community, but that backfires constantly. Mostly for me, I noticed when LGBTQ+/pro-abortion posts are made, or when people give negative reviews for how bad a creator acts is what mostly gets those awards.

i have seen loads of said people and/or bot accounts, be banned and spam lgb comments deleted.

and as rio mentioned, this is coming from both sides, where as people who support it and people who dont but are there to "poison the well", though fair to say, both will be punished for it.

with that said, none of its needed on steam or in games (or anywhere else outside of gaming), in general... just ignore and report them, while also "voting with your wallet" and dont buy, the games/from devs who force said stuff in their games and force the use of it, while ignoring or demeaning everyone who isnt lgb.

but also keep in mind, plenty of games have implemented tons of lgb stuff in games, without forcing it on you and also keeping it feeling natural and in-line with the story or gameplay, which is perfectly fine and in some cases (if the game is good), is worth buying... (1 example being stardew valley).

in the end, it wont go as these activists/firms think it will go and its already having negative impact on them, with games, movies and tv shows all flopping, with some (in the case of movies/shows) being discontinued as majority doesnt buy or watch their stuff, or funding being removed for said firms/etc.., or even regions simply banning it out right, not to mention tons of people are speaking up about all this DEI nonsense being forced into everything and ruining all of it, which just makes it more widely known so more can be done to handle it.

Refer to the accepted answer: "concern trolling" is unusually effective since you in order to protest the trolling (as OP does) are easily accused of instead protesting the concern (as you fairly lightly do, and as was done also less lightly above).
