Can't expect much from an activist.
Step 1: ignore the troll poster by clicking the "Ignore" button. That will also hide the title of the post so you don't even have to read it.
Step 2: the usual "report" part
Step 3: the most important one, that sit to move on. You've ignored the troll already, you already don't see their posts unless you're explicitly choose to which you don't have to do. So disengage. You have a (gaming) life you can focus on. You don't have to care any more than you did in steps #1 and #2. So don't.
LGBT features in any of this only as interchangeable easily enraging subject matter; the thread and any stated opinions bij OP (admittedly minus its last paragraph which it could've, therefore, in fact done without) is not about LGBT but about Steam game-forums turning into award-farming cesspools; people posting those threads merely to farm awards. Jester awards in the mentioned case, but the same thing happens with reviews and guides and other awards.
Please note that Steam-points are sold e.g. at https://www.z2u.com/steam-global/items-3-4249. Anything that can be monetized invites abuse; sometimes the conclusion might be that you can't realistically do anything about it -- but in this case it can, simply by removing "awards".
(and if you didn't mean it and were just trolling; actually sort of funny; in that case well done).
The reports have been utterly useless so far and that's part of what I'm discussing in the original post.
And I also disagree with n°3, not reacting is allowing it to get worse, not telling Valve we're not okay with that is telling them we don't care.
(edited)
Most of the threads are being posted by chuds to give themselves a safe space to post anti-LGBT propaganda.
Telling Valve via reports is worthless, it's fully automated, even appeals are almost entirely automated, even if a human were to see your report, they see tons of them every day, they do not care.
Having a discussion about it is a lot more useful in my opinion, we can compare our experience, bring attention to the issue, get something moving.
Talking about it does nothing. Let this platform sink, buy at GoG.
So does your 'side' just not have the technical expertise to create your own communities? Or are you just leaners, leeching off the work of others while demanding it be changed to match your needs.
That's very likely a Chinese alternative if that happens. We've seen cases these years already.
But the truth is most games are only available on Steam, so you can't really go all in with GoG.
And I was specifically talking about the Steam forums, the GoG forums are void of human life...
Valve being a private company could very well change that, there's no other party involved to tell them not to.
