About the current "Deep Featured sales" page
Can I just say, compared to previous sales, what a great addition to the summer sale this featured yellow page actually is?

It basically does half of your work (the other half being to search and compare online) for you in finding the biggest discounts on games with favorable reviews over a very long time, which is exactly what I usually search for in a major sale like this.

It reminds me of those sale threads around the forums where we would share the best deals of the whole sale that we could find; well now those deals are basically one centerpiece of the store:

It's a good start, but personally, I don't think it highlights enough. It would have been better if it highlighted ALL the sales that were 85% or over. But it's just a selection, making it harder to find the rest.

I agree. If the page was also bottomless and tried to fill in with marginally lower percentage cuts as you scrolled, it would be perfect. I definitely crave more of that page, looking for the rest as you say.

It's a bit like the "Dlc for you" page. Good idea, half baked execution.

It's a great addition but there's barely any products on there. If it's gonna be the same for two weeks then it's a wasted opportunity and a disservice to other games with equally appealing discounts that are buried.

you're kidding me right? xbox and gog have been doing that 10 times better and my xbox console is mainly used to find such sales of games both old and new, steam is so repetitive and garbage in telling what games are discounted.

The page would be swimming in hundreds, more likely thousands of low effort, low quality "games" from past 15+ years if only filter would be the discount percentage. They are on 85-90% discount during every sale they take part in. This would render the feature completely useless.

Use SteamDB instead as it has filters for things like historical lows or matching lows, discount percentages, ratings, price ranges and plenty of others.

All of that is subjective. As Steam is a store it is in Valve's best interest to let the customer decide. There is no harm in showing all of the discounted games. By not showing them, Valve are losing profit as people cannot find them. No, a third party site should not have to be used to help Valve earn their 30%.

It must be my store preference settings- my page only shows 3 games, total. No endless scroll, no big list.
So I can't really say if it's good or not, and I am not going to change my store preferences to see if it populates more heavily.
No filters for me to set on the page to see if I can get a bigger list and maybe find a hidden gem- that is disappointing.
But I do have to chuckle a bit, since I already own all 3 games it is showing me.

That's interesting. I had a hunch that it is personalized, but I have to agree that is pretty funny. My featured list also showed a handful of games which I already owned. I have basically bought almost all of them now though so hopefully there is a refresh as the sale goes on.

Yeah, it made me chuckle and also made me wonder why it was showing me only games I already own, when my store preferences are set to *not* show me games that are already in my library.

It makes no sense that it does not show me anything on deep discount that I don't already own. I know I have lots of games, but I don't own anywhere near every game that is sold on Steam.

For me it showed 13 games of which I own 8. At least they are all either AAA games or high profile/popular indies so it might be useful if it showed more (only high profile/high popularity games though) and only things I don't own.

There is one odd one out which is Total War Shogun 2, a 13 years old game I own. Why it picked that one I'll never know as there are plenty of games in that franchise, many of which I don't own.

Yeah, the page isn't using Search options from store preferences at all, so I have no clue what settings it is using, other than "similar to things you've already payed", which still makes no sense, since it's only showing me things I have already purchased and/or already played.

I'd be a lot happier if it worked more like the Interactive Recommender, and at least gave me sliders for older > newer games and niche > popular. Not sure what they were going for here. I am just going to stick with the Interactive Recommender- it works much better for me (sale or no sale).

It isn't. It'll show the same games even when not logged in or viewed in a browser you've never used before (and as such, has no cookies).
