can't open certain pages due to "loading chunk 4970 failed" error

it's been happening for a few days now and i don't know if it's something on my end or there's anything i can do to fix that

reloading the page clearly doesn't do anything

any help / feedback would be appreciated . thanks

Suffering? I was actually getting really annoyed by having the megaphone lighting up every week or so because of yet another ridiculous event I can't care enough about. Now I don't have to be bothered about ignoring it since if I click it it simply won't work anyways... I know I'm not missing anything important.

did you read the first 3 pages ?

it's not just the news page,unfortunately : i currently can't access my profile settings,can't load a category for the daily card (silly,i know but still) and a few other things

and i'm sure there are more not working that i still haven't discovered (people mentioned dlc pages and / or specific game pages in this very thread for example)

Same, but on Windows 11. Only serious issues I've noticed as a result are that I can't access the Steam Summer Sale categories, and I can't award posts. Everything else still seems to work.

Just tested the award thing. Same. I can't give awards. I can't edit my profile either.

Well the one thing which is really weird is that we don't all seem to have the exact same problems. Me, all I really see is some weird en-cards telling me about the loading chunk error but without a notable loss in functionality. The news bell notification top right work but when I try to access the official news page it just never load. I just checked and I can't seem to be giving out awards either, but I've never really used that feature so I don't really care...

Chat isn't working either. Basically anything that is build on React Javascript which are all the new features/updates Steam is getting since 2019.

From this article it suggests that the devs must fix it for us by serving the old scripts to clients/browsers that can't load the new ones. If we consider valve's stance on user feedback, chances are they're not going to do anything about it. We just have to keep updating whenever they change something, even if we dislike how the new client looks.

Kinda disappointing for me because I was using Firefox to browse steam ever since the UI update they did in 2023.

i guess because our "older steam clients" are not always from the same period or same version . december 2023 here and chat still works fine,for example

i want to update but i heard the new UI rework is atrocious,slow and full of bugs

took almost a year to make the previous new UI usable , 6+ months before the back button actually started working

I'm on Firefox and not seen this yet.. Ah i'm on the latest build, but yes its ugly and buggy, not as bad as you guys though.

my firefox (latest version) clearly has no issues and that's what i used to get daily card i couldn't get through the steam client or the mobile app

we're mostly discussing the issue on (older) steam clients / steam mobile apps

I meant my steam is the latest version.

I understand not wanting to update but its a double edged sword which you are discovering.

latest steam client + win 10/11 shouldn't have this issue afaik

I am certainly not going to speak for others here, but personally I'm neither discovering anything nor am I surprised by all this. Or annoyed.
