AAA sucks, AA are the future
Spent $80 on Dragon's Dogma 2, and it was a complete and utter disappointment. Performance issues. Terrible DRM making performance even worse. Microtransactions on day 1. Over a month without a fix. Game launched without even having a "new game" option once you started a character for the first time. Terrible, unfinished story, etc.

Spent like $20 on Evil West. Game is a ton of fun. Story is entertaining. Gameplay is top notch and feels straight out of the PS2 era. It doesn't have a bunch of microtransactions. Doesn't have a battle pass. Etc. Just same sort of fun I had playing action games during the PS2 era.

AAA games are a joke now, and AA titles what deserve the attention of real gamers.

Any AA games that have surprised you lately?

There are good an bad games in all tiers. The trick is not compulsively buying things you don't like because of FOMO.
I didn't impulse buy DD2. I simply got bamboozled.

The opening areas of the game have great performance because there are NPC counts and lower enemy density. There is also a locked gate to prevent you from heading straight to the capital where performance tanks. You typically won't get that gate unlocked before your 2 hour refund window expires.

No dude, there were reports of the issues prior to release and then the game was absolutely slaughtered when the embargo was lifted. You could have figured that out well within the refund limit, or even better, waited until the game was released and not wasted your money in the first place.

Nearly every review on youtube was praising it, and the benchmark videos were all run in the open area showed amazing performance.

I didn't play the game and I knew about the performance issues before it released. The store page even says 30fps, not 60fps for minimum requirements.
Yes, "minimum."

EDIT:
It doesn't even matter. Even if I should have known, the fact remains that the performance is still ♥♥♥♥, meanwhile a AA game runs perfectly.

Huh, funny, because I was looking forward to it and watched it get absolutely abused on release with lots of grumblings just beforehand. I decided to wait until it's on sale for $20 or less. Hell, I ignored the original on release and only played it for the first time a couple years ago... I think I can wait for the sequel.

Plenty of AA games run like ass as well. There's just been some really good ones that stand out lately vs basically zero AAA titles worth a glance.

Blame yourself

So-called gamers accept paywalls, DRM, FOMO, Lootboxes, payed characters
Why are your surprised that AAA abuses players if players like to be used?

People are starting to wake up. Even younger generations are starting to embrace retro gaming because of all the BS associated with modern gaming.

You don't get to tell other people what to enjoy.
I didn't.

Maybe try using less aggressive wording, you might have a more productive discussion. I get the impression you didn't want a productive discussion about AA games though, seems more like you just wanted to make a statement about AAA and the people who enjoy it.
Maybe try to focus on the topic of discussion rather than trying to derail with personal attacks.

You got a stalker or something, OP? Looks like someone wants to fight with you some bad.

On topic: I have some trouble telling indie and AA games apart, so I'll just mention some non-AAA games that I've been enjoying lately.

- Death Road to Canada
- Influent
- Titan Quest (can't say for sure which category this one lands in)

Anyways, they're all a lot of fun and I can recommend all three for sure.

Define 'real gamers'.
Aka core gamers, as opposed to casual gamers, or one-game-loyalists (aka people who play Fifa, CoD, Madden, Fortnite, Etc. and nothing other than that one game).

One or two yeah. They are always harassing me with level zero accounts. I am used to it by now though.

I think indie games and AA games have a lot of overlap anyway.
Your review was at 0.6 hours and you could have refunded but instead you played an additional 70.4 hours.

I spent the most of the next 1.4 hours trying to figure out how to delete my save without the game putting it right back, despite having cloud saves disabled, because this AAA game could not even launch with a "new game" option on the main menu.

The game has been out for like a month and the performance issues are still unpatched despite Capcom putting out a non-apology saying they would be fixed.
What's the difference between AAA and AA?
Literally bnothing.
They are just marketing blurbs
