First of all, thank you for saying what you said. I truly appreciate it. As far as being interested in the game, it is completely up my alley, in fact so much up my alley that I own it on my Nintendo switch
Oh glad to hear. I enjoyed the game also. Initially, I was expecting something more interactive but then I got into it. I just have one more dog story to finish! Good luck finding games that fit what you need.
Thank you very much for your response and suggestions! I do indeed have a lot of turn based games that currently the wife helps me play. However, I am getting a brand new chair at the end of the month that has something called eyegaze to drive and operate the chair. I asked the technician who is going to bring it out if I could use it with the computer, but he wasn't sure. So I guess I'll find that out when I get it, but that would be super cool. I tried a demo of it, but it had trouble tracking my eyes...I'm hoping it's not due to all my face tattoos, lol. I'm very stubborn, and will always be gaming. Thank you for the compliment.
I've always been very intrigued by dwarf fortress, is it more real time than turn based or can you pause it? Also how far did you get with df-ai? Anyways if I had the wife helping me do you think this would be a good game to try? It seems pretty in-depth but its nice now that it looks like they added graphics to the steam version.
Turn Based multi-faction strategic warfare. Purchased it on sale from GoG, not bad for the money paid, good graphics.
I have WH40K Gladius Relics of War, I'm assuming it's the same game you're talking about. I've thought about playing 4X games with AI vs AI just not sure how much fun it would be or if I'd know what was going on as the computer usually makes moves pretty quick. I never really played the game, but might have to check it out. What would be your suggestions for settings or setting up a match to make it interesting and know what's going on? Also thank you very much for your response.
I purchased Gladius & Relics of War as original + DLC. Now I read about a "Drukhari" faction I don't seem to be able to select in the game, or are they the "neutral Eldari" that you find everywhere with the gates ? Very annoying if I chose an aggressive enemy and my forces got beaten by a neutral invader. Beware the Orks, they ARE the many. WAAAAAAAAGH !!!
I'll install it and give it a shot. Not sure if I own any of the DLC. Have you ever tried 1 vs 1? Thanks for the tips and wish me luck, lol
I don't suppose you know of a way to have the computer end the turn for you instead of having to click it?
Oh you could definitely play it. It's a game where you basically set up a bunch of orders for the dwarves to complete and then you watch them complete the tasks. If you're a fan of reading lore, there's a mode called "legends" that's basically fantasy wikipedia specifically for the world you generated. Adventure mode is a roguelike where time only moves when you do.
And if you have nine hours spare to watch a computer play a video game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ybj8a2nWCBM
Voice Attack is a good piece of SW for both game control inputs and for other computer programs (life office apps or email, etc.)
It is here on Steam:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/583010/VoiceAttack/
If you go to their website, you can buy it there as well, and it is a few $$ cheaper, but I am not sure if the SW is different between the versions. I have a copy bought from the website- it does work well with games I play, but I don't know if it is missing any features that the Steam version may have. They may be the exact same thing, but priced differently to make up for the cut that Valve takes from each sale of the SW here.
It does take some set-up and training the SW to recognize your voice and words you want to use for commands and input. But I have used it, and it is good for *most* games and other tasks on a PC. Better than Windows built in Speech Recognition, though that is also an option to try out if you want to play games instead of only watching them play themselves.
I will say- none of the voice input/voice control options I have used are not really great for super twitchy games like competitive FPS games, but for slower paced games like The Long Dark and even some more action-packed games like Grim Dawn- Voice Attack works well for me (severe RA and degenerative OA) and my husband (who has MS and needs to use it when he is having a bad flare-up).
There are other programs out there that do the same or similar things that make using a computer possible with voice only, but I can't say how or if they work with video games. But IMHO, it's worth looking into if you want to play games instead of only being able to watch AI or other people playing them.
I do actually already have voice attack and used to use it quite a bit. It is a very handy piece of software. I've been without a computer for the past 2 years or so, so unfortunately I lost all of my profiles for different games and my microphone. I bought a headset and am going to try it though I don't know how well it will understand me as now I have to be on a bipap 24 hours a day. Worth a shot anyways and thank you very much for the response. I wish all the best for you and your family.
Well you've basically sold me on it already lol. But I am also watching the video you attached. Thank you very much for your time.
