Just in today, all internet providers decisively block access to Steam launcher and web.

I find the idea of any government having to think about gamefaqs for any reason hilarious

I think the government was incompetent though because the ISP only banned the domain, but Steam's IP address was still accessible.

You can add a DNS entry to your local machine by going to this link in File Explorer: C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts.

Then, put a new line at the end of the file like this:
<steam ip> store.steampowered.com.

Save it, and then you'll be able to access the Steam store through your local DNS entry instead of the internet.

I could be completely wrong here, but that did work for me.

This method no longer works as of tonight. Any other idea aside from VPN?
FYI everyone here, Steam probably using a CDN for their content so the IP will change over time. If that the case you must update the steam ip regularly if the browser failed to access store.steampowered.com. You can run one of these 2 commands to get the IP addresses, usually it will return 2

nslookup store.steampowered.com

OR

dig store.steampowered.com

Grab the new IP addresses and add it back to: C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts

Do ipconfig /flushdns and voila

I would prefer you guys VPN for ease of use to be honest. Because if the steam CDN ip changed we have to do this.

Or even better, if you have an iCloud+ subscription on your Apple account then enabling Private relay will works. The only problem is that only Safari uses Private Relay, other browsers not so much because you know it's an Apple thing only

Edit: Please don't use VPN to buy games, technically you will not be banned - again not confirm by Steam support as I already asked them. But if your keep using your local bank account and don't change your country then I guess you will be fine?

Eh give it a few months, you wont need to do anything and they'll likely repeal the law like they did two years ago, Vietnam tends to do that as a scare tactic and then forget it hurts itself in its own confusion

For anyone whose still have problem, try the DNS switching might work(work for me) and cross you finger in hoping for Steam will negotiate with the gov. Also be ready for ID requirement, censorship, and VAT taxes. Just speculation, no proves yet :steamsalty:

I guess people are easily irritated when something good is still being taken away.

VNPT user here, seem like it's a lottery on users. I still haven't been able to access the app on both platforms today.
