Just in today, all internet providers decisively block access to Steam launcher and web.

Everyone try changing your DNS to 1.1.1.1. it worked for me
Would the latency be high if you change DNS ? not tech savvy sorry
Changing your DNS doesn't directly affect latency but because Cloudflare doesn't support ECS this may mean you'll have to manually set your download region.

It's not the first time Vietnam has done this. This is like the 5th time since 2010.

Can't get benefits from it, can't steal any user data = BAN, welcome to communist world :)

Just use VPN if you want to surf the store or buy something with your credit card. But i'm not sure about the steam ban about IP different from the credit card location but maybe.

Using a VPN to make purchases outside your country will lead to bad consequences.

I live in Vietnam only 2 years, so i don’t know much rules in this country, but isn’t gamers community is very big in Vietnam? Isn’t it’s big enough to organize some kinda protest event?:styx:

I contacted the bro who is in charge of my area. He confirm the order 'from above' regarding steam blockade and tried to switch my line to his line.

It didn't work. Apparently he just got blocked also :steamsad:
Order 'from above' so this is end or what?

Well, there are two ways this can go down: 1) Steam decides to open a data center or office in Vietnam and start to pay tax and charge tax on their product in Vietnam or 2) Steam decides to cut off with Vietnam (option 2 is 50/50 since Vietnam player base is not a lot more than other countries and they can cut tie with us without have a dent in their finance)

Well, I’m curious how it’s ends, but I’m pretty sure the solution would appear pretty soon. Anyways i still have access to my library and haven’t any game in my mind what i wanna buy soon, so i can chill and look at the situation :lunar2020ratinablanket:
as said in another thread, im sorry to hear that has happened, governments are crap.

They cannot block your access to your library, but if the government chooses they can prevent you from buying more games on Steam.

Something to remember is that Steam has to follow the laws of the region if they wish to operate in the region.
If the government has done something that Steam refuses to agree with, then Steam will not operate in the region.
Mind-blowing
