You mean that small avatar next to your thread? Why would it need to be bigger? It's just to show who is an author of a post. It's not really relevant most of the time.

Why? Because i dunno, it's 2024 and we arent operating on 56k modems.

having tiny avatars is subpar . Kinda obvious

I guess you believe ALL graphics shoudl be some weird 90x90 or such format.

Bro , forums in 1998 had better avatars, jump in the delorean and ask them why they are ahead of steam in 2024

I liked better at the old forums, where regular users had no avatar whatsoever.

Yeah, avatars are pretty pointless, and many, if not most of the forums and such I frequent don't even use them.

:controlpope: They’re small because they don’t need to be large. Repetitious identifiers of a larger size would rather detract from the space available for displaying the (slightly-greater-importance) texts which are posted hereüpon.

 Visit any user’s profile and you can view a larger variation on their avatar.

If avatars are of such importance to you on forum, where we are supposed to engage in fruitful discussion which should be a main course here, maybe it's not the forum you're looking for but instagram.

I mean, the avatar is big in your profile. Or when you hover someone's name. Do we need to have bigger PFPs IN the forums? I think the images shown are clear enough as is.

There are 3 sizes for the different areas of Steam, 184px, 64px and 32px, where the forums only need the 32px and you can hover over them for the 64px version.

Yeah, no. Small avatars are fine. Anything bigger would make things too bloated.
Avatars are supposed to be simple, if your avatar can't be recognized while being small, you took a picture with too much going on.

Of course avatars were bigger in 1998. Monitor resolutions were much lower compared to what we have today, so everything looked much bigger on the screen.

wow

Bigger avatars are the best. It's not 1994
