Simple question about Steam's Code of Conduct.

Would it be fine for me to go on a user's public profile, check that person's reviews, post history, gaming stats/playtime, and then post multiple paragraphs in one post dissecting that person's information to mock his/her character in a satirical, sarcastic way based on that info?

Fainting to compliment the person, when obviously mocking this person by being sarcastic?

I mean, I guess since that person's profile is public, and I only use compliments in a sarcastic way, meaning the opposite of what I say, it's all fine, right?

Is it this person's responsibility to make his/her profile private to prevent overt mockery on these boards?

I'm not asking because I intend to do so, but only out of curiosity about freedoms on this platform.

Do. Not. Do. That. Making one's profile open for public isn't allowing mockery. Even more so in such an aggressive way as you've described. If you want to criticise what someone's saying, play the ball, not the man. That is, state factually what exactly is wrong about the statement.

No. It would not. It would be considered "naming and shaming" or harassment.

Moderation is not quick. Depending on many factors, a specific post may not be moderated for days or, in some cases, weeks.

moderators aren't "active" on the forums. They work from a moderation queue that covers all the forums hosted here (except those that have opted out of global moderation). So even if you see one post moderated at the same time you report, it does not correlate that the post you reported will be immediately actioned on.

and now someone is not happy with the talent of the other player....

there is a block function.... but discussion requires less blocking...

social skills could be improved to offer a better serve without crossing a line...

but anyone for tennis... could get you anyone for tennis..

I am playing Tennis because I am being sarcastic about his sarcastic post? As ReBoot said, I played the ball, not the man.

My response to his bait post was light-hearted, not sure it warranted such an outburst of sarcastic snark towards my personal character.

Plus his/her profile is private, so not sure we're playing with the same rules.

Not that I would do it anyways. And not sure I would call going on people's profiles to mock their personal character based on their stats "talent".
