Windows 11 is trash
I see so many people complaining on forums how this or that retro game doesn't work on Windows 11, while those same games run perfectly on Windows 10. Every single retro game I have works with Windows 10, so why should I bother upgrading to that garbage Faildows 11? I will stay on Windows 10 until it gets supported.

As you can see, the game is running. However there is no option to minimize the screen so that I can show you that it is in fact running on Windows 11 Pro 64-bit

Do you even own Windows 11 or are you just going off whatever everyone else is saying about how it's not going to run games?

In fact Rangers was the one that posted a big list of games saying they would only work on Windows 7 and all of them worked. It was about 15 games.
I just tried running Max Payne 1.

Holy ♥♥♥♥, I don't know what happened between now and the last time I ran it. (Both on Windows 11) but it was much harder this time.

That said its on my newer laptop.

This is what I needed.

- Widescreen Patch (Optional)
- Sound Patch (So, they play correctly on Windows 10/11)
- Startup Patch (It downright refuses to start without it.)
- Patch for newer CPUs (Due to a JPEG corruption issue on newer CPUs.)

On my older rig I only needed the widescreen patch. Again, I dont think it's a Windows 11 thing. Really I think its because of my laptop configuration.
The sound patch is needed for the first Max Payne even on Widows 7. All I needed for Windows 10 is the sound patch. I don't use the widescreen patch cause I don't like how the screen zooms out. For me it wored perfectly on Windows 10 without any startup patch. When I had Windows 7 I needed to put both games into compatibility mode and administrator to make them work, but on Windows 10 I don't need to.

>Aaah Windows XP does not run my Win98 games anymore!
>Aaaah Windows 7 does not run my WinXP games anymore!
>Aaaaah Windows 10 does not run the stuff that ran fine on Win7
>Aaaaaah Windows 11 does not run the stuff that ran perfect on 10

I wonder if every new generation realizes that they're just living the same life as the previous one but with shinier stuff.

I didn't remember needing the sound patch before, but I guess I do now. Odd. Unless I am simply misremembering which is entirely possible.

It started just fine for me.
Most of these are well documented issues. But, those issues dosen't seem to happen across all hardware. You are probably within the lucky bracket.

I'm fairly sure only the soundpatch is necessary for most people. The other 2 must be due to my hardware in particular.
Also, I needed the Startup patch for Max Payne 2. Otherwise it ran fine. Considerably easier to run than its older bro.

One thing I also noticed is that a lot of retro games tend to work better with far less issues on Nvidia cards, as opposed to AMD.

I have no regret using win11 and no issues, just dont use beta upgrades in win11.

I have an NVidia card. But, im using the Intel Iris XE instead because its simply easier for me (hybrid graphics here) and using my dedicated GPU would be overkill anyway.

So, that's also, likely part of the problem.

Yeah those cause endless boots even on my laptop.

Windows 11, along with many included Microsoft apps, are bloat bloat bloat. Ads are now in their outlook app and other unless you subscribe. Of course I use other apps and browsers, but if this is the direction Microsoft is heading don't be suprised if next Windows will feature ads on your desktop, start menu, login screen and you can only remove them with subscription.

Why people still love Windows 7 is because it wasn't filled with bloat. It was reliable and simple. No Cortana, co-pilot, ads or other disruptive elements.

let me summarize it for you with the naming of the computer shortcut on windows desktop / start menu.

windows 3.11 -> windows vista = "my computer"
windows vista -> windows 10 = "computer"
windows 10 -> onward = "this computer"

sums up exactly how M$ is treating windows users over time.

i wonder if they will change it again for windows 12 to -> "Our computer" (Yours and M$)

i havent found a game yet that didnt run on win 11 pro, even my 500+ retro games.

people having issues likely have issues with their OS/pc and need to fix it.

that being said, its not the greatest OS and there are complaints i have, but none the less, i dont have to many choices..., i still run win 7 pro, im also waiting for steam OS 3 to release (and yes i know about "holo").

and no, i dont want to run an actual linux distro at this point, maybe later.

Windows 11 isn't about Video Games...

It's more Windows 10 then Windows 10 is Windows 10...

Windows 10 is half Computer & Half Mobile Phone...

Windows 11 Is If You Took The Two & Flipped Them...

People were not happy with Windows 10,
but did not give a fuss, because of things
like Tablet Mode & 8K Resolution...

Windows 11 doesn't give anything,
it just takes it, & what it replaces it
with is a bunch of junk People don't want...

You haven't even gotten to the Gaming Part yet...

Many things like Halo Forge & Killer Instinct are not
available on Windows 11, but they were on Windows 10...

I've never met anyone who actually likes Windows 11,
the only People who've stated they liked it, was People
who like Mobile Phones & Social Networks...

Which makes sense, cause Windows 11 was made for them, ~_~

WIndows 11 is just a scam...

Microsoft is trying to sell you,
just like Video Games are
trying to sell you a scam
claiming that Gaming Is doing well,
when we all know it's collapsing...
