[Solved] Owning Multiple Copies of a Game in Steam Families Beta
Why does Steam Families not let multiple people play the same game if there are multiple "copies" owned in the family (i.e. more than one person owns the same game in the family)?

Logically, in a family of four; if two people own BO3, then two people should be able to play BO3 at the same time, no?

It does not seem like this was taken into consideration unless I am blind and there is, indeed, a workaround or built-in mode for this.

UPDATE:
Wait, after reading the Steam Support page for the feature, it seems like this is the case.
https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/054C-3167-DD7F-49D4#:~:text=Let's%20say%20that%20you%20are,a%20copy%20of%20the%20game.

Well then why is it that two people own BO3 in my family, one is playing, and it is telling me to purchase the game when the other copy is not being used. It also says to me that the game is currently being used by other family members.

UPDATE 2 (SOLUTION):
Okay... so you have to change your preferred copy of the game to solve this, but wouldn't it be nice if Steam just automatically picked the one that is not being occupied???? Or at least have the option available while the person already playing the game is active.

Valve, pls fix <3

*Starts to type the solution, but sees you already figured it out on your own.*

Ok then. Carry on.

It's set this way as Valve are taking into account that different copies of a game may not have access to the same DLC. Depending on the game, not having access to DLC that was previously used can corrupt a save or simply not allow you to load it.
