Steam doesn't support Dual Monitors
So I am having some issues with the steam client on dual monitors (win 11)...I opened a ticket and they at first asked me a couple questions....then after I answered them, they just said oh well we don't support dual monitor setups. Ugh

I literally have dual monitors at home. Steam has no issue.

Sounds like a Windows 11 issue.

You misunderstood...they as a company and software do no support dual monitors when you have steam client issues. :)

That makes no sense. The client works fine on dual monitor setups.

Judging by post history, it's something to do with Steam no knowing what the primary monitor is I think?

Which is weird considering Steam always opens in my primary monitor without issue. It'll even switch to it if I unplug my secondary and it's open on that one.

Yeah this, i also use dual monitors and steam works just fine like any other app normally. if your trying to stretch the app over both monitors most software doesn't support that.

I mean after complete shutdown, not just closing it to the system tray.

Same for me. Never had an issue with dual or triple monitor setups with Steam.

Never had any issues with the client on a dual monitor setup. It opens up in the primary monitor on startup and if I move it around and minimize/maximize, it will open up where I put it.

Some games can open up on the secondary monitor depending the settings in said game. Can't really blame the client for that though since it's a 3rd party software and settings causing it to open there.

Triple monitor system here, Steam works fine. I can have it open on any monitor in any configuration. That said, if you have a multimonitor setup and aren't using a solution such as Display Fusion, you're making things harder on yourself.

i have 2 tv's (55in 4k main bottom screen and 50in 1080p secondary top screen) as my monitors and steam launches on which ever it was last on before exited or pc shutdown/restart, it works fine... im also on win 11 pro.

also using an nvidia gpu.

must be an issue on your end.

that being said, i find it a bit hard to believe support would say that, as it make no sense :cqlol:

Not really sure what you mean. What client issues are you having where some kind of dual monitor support is relevant.

All I can say is I've been running dual monitors for like 15 years and haven't had any client issues where having multiple monitors was a factor. So if you clarified that might help.

I highly believe this is what OP ranting about, otherwise OP making himself look very silly.

To OP you do realize you can just stretch the app out across the two display manually right???

yep, you can size it to fit all your screens at once, though it wont look good if it has thick bezels.

Yup, OP should've gotten a single ultrawide instead of dual displays if wanted display that goes across whole desk, or something.
