Local Network File Transfer Stops in Mid-Transfer
I was installing Red Dead Redemption 2 on to my desktop rig via a transfer from my Steam Deck LCD. It was humming along and when I went to check on it, I see that it stopped transferring about 10 minutes before and was now downloading off of the internet.

The Steam Deck was dimmed but is configured not to sleep when plugged in which it is.

What would/could cause it to stop transferring? Even if there was an issue I didn't see they are both on the same Wi-Fi - is it not able to start transferring now?

As an aside downloading off my internet is 10 times faster than transferring off my Steam Deck. How can this be?

It just started transferring again.....

Wait and now it stopped transferring again!

(And more info for my secondary question about speed: I'm getting around ~7 MB/s via transfer and around ~46 MB/s via download.)

Oh...and it's transferring AGAIN. :-P So it's intermittent and I don't know why.

The connectivity of your Steam Deck might not be great. Or Steam could have a sucky protocol for these transfers...

I do know that Steam Deck connectivity is supposed to be much better with the Steam Deck OLED (vs my Steam Deck LCD) which, as I understand, has newer generation WiFi hardware. Still it seems surprising that a local transfer is significantly slower than an internet download.

Maybe there is room for Valve to optimize their file transfer software as you suggested.
