How and where can I get sales data for a video game?
I have been an indie programmer for 24 years now. I have always worked for others, selling parts of code. Now, I would like to create my own game. I would like to know the trends and entry hypotheses of other indie games in order to make the best choice regarding the game to create. At worst, it will be my fault.

Generally, you don't. Unless a dev choses to share the data its not publicly available. Very few chose to share it, even big studios generally only brag about milestones

As a creative artist myself, the biggest piece of advice I can give you is not to chase trends, but to create the project that you are passionate about and want to bring to fruition. To do anything else is to set yourself up for failure before you even begin.

Like why make another base building game with main character as human when you could make beaver as a builder - Timberborn
