At one point, the Global Volunteer mods helped adding all the variations of the Steam link to the filter (many of us regulars helped send the links to them) but some time in the past couple years, Vavle removed them from the filter for some dumb reason.
You avoid it by not clicking on links to "free money."
How to avoid it? Don't go where scammers are?
Scams remain popular for as long as enough people fall for it. If you're seeing an increase in the scam, then more people are being letting their greed expose their gullibility.
Your friend needs to secure his accounts. Discord should have a way to do this some where...
