End of life for Win 10 Oct 2025. How long will Steam support it?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=272h1Tauqco

I'm not the one on the video lol, but apparently Oct 2025 is end of life for Win 10. And seems to be a "hard" date. How long will Steam support it beyond that date?

In the interim, looking at the comments on the video, people still seem to be running Win 7, and are happy with it.

Hopefully until 2030+.
Still using Windows 7 everyday with no real problems.

Windows 7 April Update

UpdatePack7 2024.4.10 is out and is running fine for me. I've installed it on several of my Win7 machines and no issues to report.

I'm sure that there are many Win7 users out there that are unaware of these monthly updates. My experience has been very good since I started using them in 2021. One download will update a fresh install of Windows 7 SP1 to current day (or you can update the ISO before installing). Save time and bandwidth.

Steam seems fine. No real issues to report.

Steam Beta Branch: Stable Client
Steam Version: 1709846872
Steam Client Build Date: Wed, Mar 6 3:31 PM UTC -08:00
Steam Web Build Date: Thu, Mar 7 4:17 PM UTC -08:00
Steam API Version: SteamClient021

Oh, this again.

Valve has supported operating systems for years after Microsoft stops.

You've been told the answer every time you've asked. Why are you asking again?

He isn't.

You literally used this point in the Windows 7 threads. You were told the same thing.

Time to install Linux.

Why do you think Valve is leaning so hard into Proton and chose to have the Steam Deck run Linux?

Yet folks are telling people to go to Win 10, although they may just have a few more years of that.

And accordingst to this gentleman, if you go to Win 11, you best make sure your machine can handle that.

Any computer purchases in the past 2 years can handle Windows 11. Even if it doesn't mean the TPM requirements, it can be bypassed.

Don't know anything about that, just that your system better be able to handle Win 11, or all bets are off accordingst to him. However, i'll let you fellas and ladies opine on this matter. It's out of my league.

But one thing is for sure, Win 10 may be a waste of time atp, unless you buy a machine that can handle 11, and this summer, accordingt to rumor, maybe Win 12.
