So, someone keeps sending me a 50$ steam gift card and i dont know if it's a scam or not
I just woke up earlier, someone sent me a friend request, i accept because why not, they instantly send me a gift card for 50$. The user in specific is named "kate" and when i clicked this link it said "Steam 50$ card, gift from auronplay" then the sign in button. I looked up auronplay and they are appearantly a spanish streamer. I questioned this gift in the dm thing and he kept sending me the 50$ card link. Can someone please help me out here.

Remove the person from your friends list again/ignore them.
That is not really that hard to do and will solve your problem.

Then you should only remind yourself to not accept friends requests from people you do not know in the future.

This is literally the most obvious scam imaginable and it beggars belief that you even have to query it. Report the scammer for sending malicious links and then remove them from your friends list. If you fall for the scam and get your account phished then you put your other friends at risk to and this develops into a chain scam.

It's a scam attempt, block the person

A simple google search "50$ steam gift card" would already show it's a scam method

I donno why you guys feel the need of clicking unknown links. Then ppl get scammed and come here saying they never did x or y and that steamguard sucks.

If you sign in, they will get your login credentials and steal your account or items. It is literally a fishing attempt. Just report them then block them.

Also, NEVER accept unprompted friends requests, EVER.
report them first then block...

At one point, the Global Volunteer mods helped adding all the variations of the Steam link to the filter (many of us regulars helped send the links to them) but some time in the past couple years, Vavle removed them from the filter for some dumb reason.

It's been making the rounds really hard again the past few months.

I bet this "login button" is phishing.

If someone gifted you something you get notice on your Steam client notification, and a pop up on Steam client showing you what that gift is, there no shouldn't be login required because login already on hence the client itself, you only see option accept, or deny.

If you got link posted to you from DMs saying it's a gift that asking for your Steam login then it's a scam. Steam doesn't do link gifting.

If got email claiming you got a gift, and asking for login, then it's a scam.

See how this works if you're already login on Steam via your browser, and you click on link from something like discord, or whatever, then you visit a site that then asks you to type in your login info you know it's a scam site because you're already login it shouldn't be asking you to login, let alone asking you type login info period that how you know it's a scam.

First of all, look at the mirror and ask yourself, do you deserve that 50 bucks and why.
