they should change the blocked user system
here is my idea: show the name of the blocked user posting. some times i want to see posts by specific blocked users. when their names is not listed, i need to see all of the blocked posts, rather than the one i want to see. by listing the user name even when blocked, it is possible to see who made the post.

why do you people keep using "public" as if it's some sort of a buzzword?
MonkehMaster 7 ABR 2024 a las 5:53 a. m.
seems to be the go to, for reasons why others, should be able to force people, to listen to them... :cqlol:

"public forum"

i got the same type of answer when i asked someone to "please, block and ignore me", because they would let me use the forum, without their input/interjection, they simply had to make arguments of my comments, which is common in these forums, even for an opinion lol.

I disagree, if I block a person then HE/SHE should be blind on everything I write
Hard to make someone blind to anything you post on a public space open to everyone.

I can understand not wanting a user to have any sort of interaction with you, but there's no way to stop that from happening where you speak in a place anyone can read you.

It's like not wanting a person you don't like to eavesdrop on a conversation you're having in a pub or at the bus stop. It's hardly enforceable.

Do you even have Facebook or twitter? If so, then you would know what a complete block is. Steam version isn't it.

Public: done, perceived, or existing in open view.

I know. And I've said it before the block function works on Steam just like on Twitter in the places Steam works like Twitter. Like your activity feed.

all this "public forum" nonsense is simply you stating your opinion. it's subjective crap
"I believe public forums should behave this way" is basically what you're saying

they don't all have to be that way. as shown by reddit

It is not generally a good idea to overload a system with a gigantic number of options so every user can option something else. All this code needs to be maintained, and the more options you have, the higher the chance of getting "interesting" interactions between these options.

Also, imagine support having to study your specific set of 500 options and having to recall/know all the interactions to see why you might be having the problem you think you're having.
MonkehMaster 7 ABR 2024 a las 7:24 a. m.
they dont have to study anything, if the block user function worked well enough, as no issues would arise.

neither can interact or even know that they are there.

that being said, options are always a good thing.

Well now I understand the other side. My idea can not work well, where blocked cant see my thread. Because this way it can use bad way, like the OP start block everyone who disagree with him, so it end up the so called "echo chamber".
Anyway block is useless in my opinion, I dont want handicap on myself, but unable the person to interact with me, like not even talk to me.

Sure, they don't, but Reddit is a cesspool. Why on Earth would you want that...

they could have it as an option.

They could but what purpose would it serve?

Someone blocks, but goes back and reads a reply, gets more butthurt and keeps the flame war going. It doesn't help the situation at all and totally negates the block system.

Its good as it is.

well, my situation is a bit different, but im not gonna bring it up, or i may find arguments being made.

I don't know about you but Steam is peaceful, its inhabitants kind. You can go to https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/ if you want that Reddit.

Seriously, people need to learn how to use that block function. I live rent free in way too many people's heads. I politely say it's flattering, but in reality I'm a lesbian and I find it unflattering.
