PC gaming not cheaper than consoles years later
Third time upgrading and third time spending more money to completely rebuild it. Pretty much 4060 and 12600kf with a new cooler for the new Mobo of course that need a PCIE not ssta nvme. About 600+... (Excluding HDD and power supply issues) The PS5 is way better value for price? 70 dollars a year is obviously nothing when you consider upgrading every 2-3 years.

i loved the wii, it was a shame when they removed youtube from the wii to push ads, they are doing the same with youtube on smart phones and tablets, already android 4.0 will not run youtube app, however it will work on the browser.

the industry itself has caused a lot of product death and electronics graveyards just because they want to keep profiting.

Uhm ...
After I spend 500 moneyz on a console I also don't need to spend anymore if I don't want to.
Use the best tool for your job. Is that simple.
For some it's going to be a console, for others it'll be the PC. For many years I've never had utility for a gaming device hooked on the TV while I spent most of my time on the PC anyway. Gaming on the PC was the natural thing.

For others the natural way is couch playing on the console.

I now got gifted a console and still don't find console gaming comfortable. Couch playing strains my eyesight more than PC gaming, for example. There's more to it than cost. In my case PC gaming costs got soaked by other vectors that required the PC hardware. Two birds, one stone. Consoles were always an additional expense.

(Also good luck playing modern games in ten years on a 500 bucks PC.)
In my case, by the time I get to play those modern games they'll run fine on the hardware I'll have.

A big backlog and a lot of patience makes gaming way more cheaper and affordable, both in PC and console.

The best tool for the job.

i personally enjoy using one of those mame consoles while on my treadmill, they are packed full of games on a tiny little hdmi stick thingy, can't remember what they are called, but its super fun playing.

keep in mind i also have a touch screen windows 10 pc next to the treadmill to play music to that 20 year old stereo with the 12 inch kickers, the simple fact that the amp isn't needed because the stereo is old enough to have its own amp and run 16 ohm speakers is why old stereo's are awesome. it will rock the whole neighborhood with bass if i turn it up.

old computers are awesome to they never over heat, large heat sinks you can just put a new large fan on, keep in mind back 20 years ago the fans they used on cpu's where tiny compared to the ones today.

its all about the software you run, its not about cutting age modern its about usefulness. the plus side of the older operating systems is they have no update platform same with old tv's they will not be compromised by bad software updates or attacks by companies wanting to the deem the product at end of live.

also you can do great things with old PSU, including using them to boot up motherboards test components and even run fans on them or boost a cooling system on a current computer without overloading the psu for the computer.

consoles are great , but a computer is a console plus a juke box, plus a video player, plus anything you want.

I have every Steam and GOG purchased in 2008 available.

I had a Wii, when it broke I lost all my digital games. Even if I had a WiiU it would have died with it.

I lost a bunch of NES/SNES games when my 3DS was abandoned by Nintendo as they were tied to the system, even though they're available on the Switch.

Consoles don't do much backwards compatibility, computers do most of it even if you might have to download mods and patches.

Consoles offer a cheaper entry point and it's going to run the game you want hassle free without cheating. PC can have the bigger and better things but is also like the wild west if you delve into multiplayer.

PC's have never been cheaper to build than a console, ever. They do offer you to upgrade over time little by little.

You really necro'd a thread to post videos of buying used parts?

You're listing videos of older and low end products. Not exactly brand new now is it? The guy in every video admitting they got lucky on finding a rare deal to find anything worthwhile.

Ya, I'm sticking to the truth over used hardware that has no guarantee.

As Eva Green once said in Casino Royale

"There are gaming computers and gaming computers; those are the previous. And I need you looking like a gamer who belongs at that desk".
