It seems support for this was discontinued.

Ok, fine, but why let the option to link Youtube to Steam then? It's still there... So... I don't think you really know what you're talking about, lol.

With Google doing backend work and updating their stuff, it will take a while before Valve can do anything about it.
Often in development if something is broken it´s just being disabled, not fully taken out of the code (because that won´t change anything, yet costs more time to do).
You call this "deadcode". Deadcode is simply left in the code and then moved on.
Trust me: You will miss a lot more functions in 1.5 years when it´s all over then just a dead Youtube-linking. A new world will begin then. Because all Online-gaming will be broken until then as well.
