Is it possible to swap games with GOG
I have Worms games in my GOG library. Worms are multiplayer focused, but for some reason only Worms Armageddon multiplayer works in GOG. On the other hand, I have Homeworld games in library. While skirmishes are fun, it is the campaign that is a real star. Unfortunately Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak has now mandatory Epic login.

Since I own all four games, is it possible to move Worms: Armageddon and Worms Ultimate Mayhem to Steam and Homeworld Remastered and Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak to GOG. I can't find any solution. If needed I am willing to pay the transfer and the differential prices to either GOG or Steam.

No.

You actually can't do that with any of these services.

I've been following this issue for some time now. Apparently, they updated your game and now it requires an internet connection. Before this update, you could play your game offline and without an internet connection. Am I correct?

It is ignorant to send people an update such as this. An update that removes a game it's offline functionality. Hordes of people have complained about this already.

Is it possible to go back to an earlier version by using the "BETA" tab in your Steam client? Or, alternatively, download a "DEPOT" of an earlier version by using the Steam console, and by searching and downloading an earlier depot, by making use of a 3rd party website that tracks these depots?

Two words:

The Crew.
Also. But the Crew is a slightly different case I believe. Because according to my internet research, The Crew could not be played without an internet connection inherently. Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak could be played offline, if I understood the complaints correctly. So they effectively "patched Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak," so that the player can no longer play the game offline, instead of dropping dedicated server support, as people did to The Crew. (What made The Crew completely unplayable for the players, if I understood the players correctly.)
The Crew also informed the player that this would happen at some point, at the time of purchase. And the player might have reasonably known this. But for Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak they did not. Players might have thought they bought a single player game that could be played offline, based on reviews. They couldn't have known this, and they couldn't have reasonably expected this to happen.

If these potential solutions do not fix anything, then I think we may have to contact Epic to ask why their launcher does not properly supports offline mode.

Except there's a file included with the game for offline play, Ubisoft won't activate it.

That seems... unlikely to me. If a game is designed as an MMO, the developers have no real reason to make an identical non-MMO game and provide it to everyone for free but not have it actually be playable. If there is actually such a file, surely someone else would have activated it by now, right?

In the past Steam and GOG had this neat "GOG Connect" program that publishers could join.
Basically if you bought a game on Steam you would get a copy for free on GOG too if you linked your accounts.
Was active for a few years and netted me about 70-80 free games on GOG overall.
Sadly it was abandoned a few years ago.

I did more searching, and apparently it is possible to "down-date," by using the earlier mentioned depots. This might effectively restore offline functionality. (If the depot functions that is, because I do not know that.) And if it functions, then you may not be able to play multi-player. But at least you would have your offline mode back, and you might no longer need to log-in.
