Got banned for posting off topic post in off topic ?

As the title says i got a ban for posting a off topic post in off topic ?
Can some one Explain why off topic is called off topic
If people post a off topic post and then get banned for it been off topic
The post was i posted why some one had been banned in off topic.
theres zero logic to this madness.
