Cloud Gaming and the Future?
Cloud gaming will either be the future or fail again, because it's already the third or fourth attempt that the company has tried this since 2009 when it launched onlive

Stadia failed because it sold you the worst aspects.
And then even took all of that away.

GFN isn't cloud gaming.

Also, cloud gaming actually grants you less ownership over the license of the game. Kinda ironic to be advocating for it.
Cloud gaming is when you play a game in the cloud.

Geforce just did it right, by letting you play your games there.
Not trying to sell you the games on the cloud only.
Cloud gaming is the game being stored in the cloud as well as being played from the cloud. GFN is a streaming service. It's just a more advanced Steam Link.

Instead of your home PC being the 'server' you pay Nvidia for access to their server farm.

And that is cloud gaming.

You talk about a cloud game store, that sells cloud exclusive games.

Cloud gaming is playing games in the cloud.
Stadia asked you so to say, to build a fence around your games, and pay stadia when you want to step over it.

That is not the definition of cloud gaming, its a bad purchase.

In a word, yes. Ge Force Now is a huge success, and the Xbox Stream service, at least when i used it on Forza (that's a pretty good gauge) and Starfield, ran flawlessly. But i live in a big city, in the NE, blessed with great internet.

Once advances in internet for the mass amount of people happen (if it does), there's no stopping it.

Yes it is.

There are also many other cloud gaming providers with a similar business model to GeForce Now: you bring the games, they bring the computer to play them on.

Yep, i think it's a shame people keep bringing up "Stadia". We're just so far beyond that atp.

Wouldn't this mean that Steam Link is also cloud gaming? The difference being you are just using your own machine and not someone elses?

Cloud can not be playing anything from your computer.

Isn't that more of a "mirror" then stream or cloud gaming? I mean we have that on Xbox, where you can play your Steam Library, thru your Xbox, but it has to be playing on your main computer.

All i thought Steam Link did, was just mirror in other rooms what's being done on your main PC.

Cloud can not be playing anything from your computer.
So even though it is functionally the same, one is cloud but the other isn't?

"the cloud" means "someone else's computer".

Yea no thanks, thats just some CEOs wet dream right there in combination with live service. Not only you buy it for 70€ you cant even store it on your computer and enjoy it on your own behalf when they decide to remove it.

Yep, that's the down part of it. We use those services, the game could come off. MS Flight Simulator i could swear was on GFN. Then for whatever reason, it came off. If i would have bought it, i would have been up a creek, being my PC can't play it.

Cloud is when you connect to the internet and something in the internet is handling it for you.
Instead of on your computer.

Microsoft certainly had it on xbox cloud, not geforce.
While there is by now an xbox connection possible on geforce. Certain games.
