What is wrong with Sony games requiring PSN account on steam?

Hello.
You probably already know that some Sony-published games on Steam require PSN accounts: Until Dawn and God of War Ragnarök are some of those games.
Since I'm yet to buy these games, I was wondering what is wrong with the requirement of linking your PSN account to your Steam account? Is there any particular reason for people to not want\like linking the accounts?

Not true. Sony customer service helped me a lot when I need it. And it was from Japan, so there will be a lot of change mind.

What would valve do?

They allow 3rd party launchers and accounts otherwise so many companies would not sell games on steam.

If it's a issue on your end then make sure you don't buy the games that require them as they list them as a requirement.

The only two REAL problems are that PSN is not available in 177 countries. That means people who can't make a PSN account can't play these games at all. The other problem is that PSN has very poor security and data breaches are frighteningly common.

While I do have a PSN account, and I acknowledge that's their right to make that requirement. This is my primary concern and why I dislike it. Making a game unavailable for 100+ countries, while actively having a horrible account/user security past...just doesn't make sense.

Mad how you didn’t care about those 100+ countries until it affected you. They’ve been banned from PSN since the PS3 but you’re only bothered about it now.

This is been a thing for over a decade.

If you don't like it then don't buy a game that requires another services account and the psn account is not a launcher in this case.

I just hope they don't retroactively require it for prior releases ... the 'remaster' upgrade for HZD is supposed to require a PSN account now. How long before they force it on their entire back catalog?

That's the one thing they can't do because it's gonna border on lawsuit territory. Those games have been out for years. Millions have bought it from regions that are blocked now.

It's going to look like The Crew situation on steroids.

The second reason makes sense but for the first one, is it not possible to create an account for available countries and link them for the sake of solving the problem?
Nevertheless, very poor marketing strategy by Sony.

I live in a country without PS Network though I have a PSN account registered to another country. The problem? Well the problem is I can't even open steam pages of Ghost of Tsushima and God of War because it is region locked. This will also be the case for every Sony games moving forward. Basically there is no way for me to play upcoming games legally.

These are my sentiments exactly; but, begrudgingly, I have observed that more and more of "the Master Race" is becoming more slave-minded. They no longer embrace and/or understand the power of their dollar; and thus, the ability to make an ornery company capitulate to their demands.

Nowadays, there's a multitude of "go-along-to-get-along" betas, that mask their subservience behind notions of "stop complaining - it's not a big deal". Yeah.... The Master Race has had its gene pool infiltrated.

So get rid of Steam, XBOX, EGS, Origin / EA, Ubisoft, Rockstar games, Bethesda.... and your point to SONY may make some sense.
